All the UK's vintage classics line are great films. I highly recommend Dead of Night and would love to see Criterion release it. Must see film if you are into horror and it was a huge influence on many films in the genre.

Other great films released under the label in the UK, some Ealing, Kind Hearts and Coronets ( of course), Whiskey Galore, Pink String and Sealing Wax, An Inspector Calls, School of Scoundrels, Hobsons Choice, Darling ( if you like Julie Christie its a must own ), Passport to Pimlico, Titfiield Thunderbolt, Brighton Rock and of course the previously mentioned The Belles of St Trinians Personal favorite of mine. Not to mention Fallen Idol which should be a Criterion release. Stupid StudioCanal/Lionsgate@!!

Agree 1000% and have mentioned it a few times. Its a great movie and given the blurry DVD I feel it could benefit the most from a HD transfer. Though given the DVD not so sure what elements exist for the film. Also feel Drunken Angel deserves a Bluray as well.

On the subject of Japanese films really would like to see a criterion release of The Human Condition. The Arrow release was fine, but I want a Region A Criterion release.

More wishful thinking than anything, I think. But if true it'd be one hell of a Christmas gift for fans.

Saw this in an English class in college and was blown away. Instantly fell in love with Elizabeth Peña too (R.I.P.).

I haven't seen it since, but would love to watch it again, especially in HD.

Is this a real possibility for Criterion, or just a wild dream?

Crazy seeing as how BC just had that 30th ann release. But I would love for a set to come to fruition.

A TV series box set of this would be fantastic. It's essential viewing though the quality drops immensely after the pilot which was Made for TV movie quality.

Given the December announcements have been delayed the past few years, I have absolutely no expectations for the rest of today.

Though if anything was announced, Tree of Life, Cure, or Werckmeister Harmonies would be marvels.

This post from Akijama gives me some hope:

Round Midnight
The Roaring Twenties
The Philadelphia Story
Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid
O Lucky Man
Lone Star
Hedwig & The Angry Inch
Captain Blood
Bringing Up Baby
Arsenic and Old Lace

also...

Mean Streets
Barry Lyndon

The fact that these were listed as OOP in the same time as some of the titles licensed to CC, led me to believe that, perhaps, I'm on something here, and that this is not merely a coincidence. We shall see...

I think it's about time for them to announce "California Split", and they're overdue for another Chaplin (hopefully "The Circus", as that's the one I don't even have a DVD of).

Howsa 'bout a re-issue of Flesh For Frankenstein on Blu in the original Space-Vision 3D? If not, I'd certainly settle for Blood For Dracula as it has not been well-served in releases on Blu in other regions...and I don't care what anyone says, Udo Kier and Joe Dallesandro give comedic performances that touch genius.

Bringing up Baby seems to be inevitable. A copy of the film (Not with a 'C' on it) was recently spotted in a Criterion office picture someone posted online. There were other films Criterion was presumably researching/reviewing.

With the recent German announcement for Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula, I am hopeful that we getting closer to a U.S. (Criterion) release.

I'd be super happy with a bluray release for Taste of Cherry. The current DVD is awful.

I assume it's coming, but I think they will spread it out a little bit from The Philadelphia Story.

Not happening anytime soon sadly. I was reading some stuff from Bob Furmanek that Paul Morrisey is being a supreme pain in the ass in regards to those two films as he hasnt been happy with any companies he's dealt with and thinks pretty much everyone has tried to rip him off. In regards to Frankenstein 3D it apparently needs a major restoration and 3D re-alignment which he wants Bob to pay for in its entirety. In essence, it has major problems that will cost a lot to fix but Paul doesnt want to admit it has major problems and wants Bob to do everything and do it at his own expense.

We need a Le Trou upgrade. With the UK getting a Region 2, Studio Canal release...it is beyond time.
