Thanks. Definitely an option. And a more expensive one.

I'd rather watch the UHD of Silence of the Lambs on VUDU than own another 1080 release, even if it is criterion

I'm hoping the B&N sale will be extended into December. I'm still trying to figure what to limit my cart down to for this month's flash sale. Decisions, decisions

I would love to see Criterion release the film as it would fit perfectly in the collection.
I'm willing to bet this is getting released closer to Oscar time. That or the Hulu deal likely includes home video rights as well (Annapurna does not have a home video deal or at least we don't know about it and I can't see them doing what Broad Green did and self-distributing the titles). Brad's Status was different as Amazon produced the film (the Annapurna logo does not appear anywhere in the film) and therefore has final say on all other rights.

I can't see Criterion touching Detroit (you see these made for Oscars movies every year and maybe a tenth of them are actually remembered). I'm expecting Fox will get the rights (if Hulu didn't get home video rights, MGM might have due to the relationship they've formed with international distribution and select in-house titles).

Criterion may not release "Detroit", but a Criterion release of "Doctor Detroit" feels inevitable to me.

Mmmm, Donna Dixon in high definition would make me feel "Sonny, Sonny, Sonny!"

Donna Dixon, Fran Drescher and Lynn Whitfield are all looking mighty fine in "Doctor Detroit". Great title song from Devo as well.

Thumbs up Lynch On Criterion

I'm surprised & pleased that someone like David Lynch is getting criterion love.

I forgot about Fran Drescher. She was a mighty good looking woman back then, so long as she didn't tawk. Lynn Whitfield I don't know, though.

Oh yeah, Drescher was drop dead beautiful, but that voice is grating. Lynn Whitfield is the black woman in the film, very beautiful woman back in the 80s and 90s. The Asian woman in the film is attractive, but not quite on the level of the other three. I always think of "Doctor Detroit" as one of Dan Aykroyd's passion projects along with "Nothing but Trouble". "Nothing but Trouble" is godawful, but "Doctor Detroit" is a very fun oddball curio. I remember reading something about how when Aykroyd was on SNL, the other cast members would always say about Aykroyd, "Where the f**k does he come up with this stuff?" during pitch meetings because his comedic sensibilities were so bizarre (i.e. Bass-o-Matic, Fred Garvin Male Prostitute). That shines through some in "Doctor Detroit", though I'm sure Aykroyd would have preferred to take it much further.

It hasn't even been announced, only teased in the latest cartoon.
