That was what they were always expected to use. There's only one "restoration" (the Pathé) and they rejected that.

That would make for a great Criterion release imo.

Yeah, that found its way onto a lot of CC wishlists once the reality of the Warner licensing deal sunk in. For me it's very near the top of my Warner wishlist. (Definitely behind A Face in the Crowd and maybe just behind Arsenic and Old Lace).

And while I would definitely prefer a CC release (it's just begging for a nice supplements package) I could live with a Warner Archives release too.

Pretty good. Fits perfectly within the Cronos/Devil's Backbone/Pan's Labyrinth universe.

I thought it was a Hellboy prequel of sorts.

Maybe Abe Sapien is the offspring of Sally Hawkins and that creature.

Double bill with its spiritual sequel Two Weeks in Another Town (also directed by Vincente Minnelli and starring Kirk Douglas, released in Warner Archive MOD DVD) would be great!

I hope you're right, I've been dying for Until the End of the World ever since Wim Wenders said Criterion would release it years ago.

Opening December 1 via Janus Films.

(I imagine the poster will be available to purchase on Criterion's website at a later date).

I saw A Taste of Honey the other night and thought the film was very good and that the transfer was great. Great performance by Rita Tushingham who really had a good look for the part. To me, it is no wonder why Morrissey paid homage to the film by incorporating some bits of the dialogue to both The Smiths and his solo work. I love love love The Smiths, though, so I guess it was only natural for me to warm up to this film.

Some may find it non-eventful and possibly even dull, but if you like well written character dramas (I actually thought of some of Elia Kazan's films as comparison,) and think you might dig this film, then I say go for it!

There's an Arrow Region B blu of The Sorrow and the Pity. If it's that, the release should bring a smile to Annie Hall fans.

He's the son of famed director Max Ophuls (La Ronde, Earrings of Madame de... etc.) and has directed some outstanding documentaries in his life (The Sorrow and the Pity, Hotel Terminus for instance).

No kidding. I consider A Face in the Crowd and Network to be two of the most prescient films ever made.

Might as well get my guesses in in case they are coming today.

Tom Jones
The Breakfast Club
Klute
The Passion of Joan of Arc
Night of the Living Dead

I have no idea if Criterion plans to wait til October to release NotLD, but I figure they might start the year off with a bang, and announcing it during October wouldn't be a bad thing either. But yeah, probably way off here
