Nope. Not even close. Pretty much as far as this conversation can go. I'm very adamant about my thoughts on this film.

Such a long-awaited title on blu-ray and it promises to be a fantastic release.

It's a very distinct and interesting score, like all of Morricone's work.

Agreed. Probably my favorite cover yet.

P.S. and don't straw man me by insinuating that I dismissed the other directors you've named. I'm probably the biggest frothing fan of Suzuki in the forums among the others you've listed.
I like Miike too, but he wouldn't even be in my top 3 Japanese directors *currently* making films. Even if we were going with most creative, I'd give that to Sion Sono.

I'm in for Tom Jones but what's up with that cover? Weird.

Night of the Living Dead, The Silence of the Lambs, and Tom Jones are two-disc releases so they may be released in DigiPacks.

Never seen Tom Jones but I'm interested. And I'm glad they didn't wait to release NotLD. Now if only they'd unbreak my heart about 16 Candles.

It's been a while since I did a formal ranking, but it's probably in my top 10 Best Picture winners. I just can't imagine what they were thinking with that cover, I don't even understand it at all

I've seen lots of people say they hated the score, lots say it works against the film or seems misplaced.
While I can't remember the music, I agree with 20th Century on pretty much everything about the Untouchables. That movie is trash and Costner plays a BIG part in that.

The whole movie looks like a high school play to me. I'm not gonna go into it because it's probably moot to all sides, I thought I was gonna love it. The opposite happened. Just my own tastes I guess.
The Oscar-nominated (and BAFTA-winning) score? Yes, even the music.

He's my number 2 man. But no way anyone touches Miike's mid 90s to mid 2000s run of creativity. Again, we can go elsewhere with this.

Isn't "The Untouchables" the score where the villain's sidekick's theme is just cut-and-pasted from "Once Upon A Time In The West"?

I don't care about awards in the slightest, knowing how they're generally given. The only concession anyone has ever given me about my criticism of the film IS the music. It's not a hit with everyone.

The best news is that NOTLD is presented ONLY in proper 1.37.1 aspect ratio.

Good for you. The actual film composers who know and score music disagree.

You may not like it, or certain aspects of it including Costner's performance, but referring to the entire film as "trash" is spurious and way off base.

I never noticed that myself in particular, but there has been the odd occasion that some notes on one Morricone score bear a similarity to another. But he's not the only composer who does that.
