I was thinking about which "major" directors (with previously released Criterion SD DVDs) have not yet made their way to Criterion blu-ray:

Renoir
Bresson
Bunuel
de Sica
Fassbinder
Hitchcock
Lean
Malle
Melville
Mizoguchi
Ozu
Tarkovsky
Welles

(We could debate "major" here, but these are pretty big names with several Criterion DVDs previously released).

I hope we get something from any of these directors, particularly Bunuel or Ozu. Personally, my most wanted is Tokyo Story.

has Criterion ever done any F.W. Murnau or is that all KINO only?

anyways... Criterion's presentation of Armaggeddon & The Rock would be awesome ahhahaha ;P

half-kiddingly anyway, current Arm. BD can look better!

The fact that Armageddon is even on the Criterion, makes me do a serious face-palm every time I think about it.

If that is the case, I hope Lionsgate puts out a U.S. one. I don't care who does it, a long as it's put out. Just hope by then though, Studio Canal has better transfers for blu-rays.

Sorry about the no runner-up things, I just thought it would be quick and fun to see everyone's first choice.

Thanks. I am doing my morning run of all these posts, so don't be shocked to see 5-6 CG posts in a row.

No problem, CG. I figured you could use a chuckle in the morning. I actually think we are going to get Salo on BD. That would pretty much round out the outrageous/strange film collection conversion to BD, with House and Antichrist already announced. Don't start calling my Nostradamus or anything, but I have a feeling......

My heart belongs to CG's mom, so I don't think she'd appreciate it too much. However, she and I will be more than happy to drop lil' CG off at the mall so he can hang out with these Asian cuties.

I would welcome that notion with open orifices. It would be a nice companion to my BFI blu-ray.

For me, Elevator to the Gallows
For me? Armageddon... Just KIDDING!

No really... screw "no runner ups" because I have a few that I would equally like to see: Rushmore, Robinson Crusoe, or Night Train to Munich.

Not to steer away from the entire Wes Anderson discussion , but I finally got to watch Days of Heaven yesterday, and The Thin Red Line today, and I've become a Malick fan instantly. What fantastic movies. I want to say so many things about them, and am speechless at the same time. The last time I felt that about a movie was with Cassavetes' Faces. Not really a comparable movie, but still. I need to let them sink in, I guess.

I figured you would CC, that's why I mentioned it. I think it's on the top of your 100 list, right?
