Just bought La Poison solely because of the cover artist. Will be getting it signed by him along with the Special edition of The Producers

I agree, it is one of the best German films from the 80s. I've almost imported the German blu-ray a couple of times even though I don't speak German. It's a shame if Criterion has no interest in releasing this, though I'm sure even if they did, it wouldn't be a big seller.

I'm still holding out hope that someone will issue a blu-ray of this with English subtitles.

I'm right there with you, since I'm a huge David Bowie fan.

Criterion's release of The Breakfast Club includes never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes. That makes it a worthy addition to the Collection.

A T2 release by Criterion would have nothing close to that. There's zero reason for it to exist, and zero reason why anyone would pay $20-$40 for it if it did.

Again, it's never going to happen anyway.
I don't think it's impossible. If James Cameron wanted T2 in the collection he could make it happen. That's how Director Bay got two of his films spines in the collection.

I don't recall a poll on Facebooks. There was an Amazon CC poll back in 2009. Howards End received the most votes.

The question is WHY would James Cameron want T2 or any other film of his to be in "The Collection"? He is already acknowledged as one of the masters of modern spectacle cinema, and most of his films out on blu-ray or DVD have very thorough documentaries / retrospectives.

Michael Bay took the initiative of working with Criterion because at that point of time most mainstream studios had not yet gotten into documenting the making of films and recording director's perspectives etc, so it stoked his ego to get all that exposure through Criterion. Once the major studios followed Criterion's lead, you no longer had any of Michael Bay's or most other modern mainstream blockbuster films being featured in the Criterion Collection.

It's understandable that some Criterion label fans think it's the only label that matters but, without diminishing their pioneering work in this field, you gotta realize that's no longer true.

Cohen Media Group will be releasing Claude Berry's classic film The Two of Us (1967) on May 29th, sourced from a new 4K restoration. The film was previously released by Criterion on DVD.

Any chance Criterion can get "How to get ahead in advertising" (1989) for a new blu ray release?

It depends who has the rights now. Wouldn't be surprised if Arrow actually had it in the US. They released it with the special (and limited) edition of Withnail and I in the UK, newly remastered

Well, it wouldn't sell as many units as the Lionsgate editions obviously. Not even close. And yeah, it'll never happen. But this is freakin Terminator 2, one of the most popular movies out there, at least in terms of its genre which sells extremely well. I have to disagree, it would move a lot of units by Criterion's standards simply with their branding, but they wouldn't add nothing to it in terms of extras, so its a moot point anyway.

Something I'm wondering about now that I've received my copy of the sure-to-be-amazing The Passion of Joan of Arc blu-ray, the Dreyer box set that Criterion put out years ago is no longer sold on their site and only on Amazon, and even Amazon is not currently carrying it, just other sellers through Amazon.

I wonder if those films are headed for a blu-ray upgrade in the future? Would love to experience restored versions of Day of Wrath, Ordet, and Gertrud.

They've been gone for a long time now from Criterion and Amazon. They were released overseas a couple years back, sourced from new restorations, so hopefully Criterion does release them eventually.

The UK set (which also includes Master of the House) is very reasonably priced, if you're region free

Unfortunately, not region free. But thanks for the suggestion in case I ever am!

Criterion has the HandMade Films catalog in the US (Time Bandits has already been re-released, and the rest are on FilmStruck.)

Couldn't hold out. Got the MOC version when it was released. Doing the same for Legend, even though Olive has US rights to that, not Criterion.
