I mean, it's coming soon. The Magnificent Ambersons got a clue a few months before Notorious and just came out now.

They never say "a clue means it's coming this month", they're just hinting at what is coming.

I hate this culture where a label announces a great month of releases and al everyone can talk about is "Yeah but what about X film, why are they still not releasing it?" It is incredibly annoying.

Imagine if all the people thought like that, all the great films that would be automatically dismissed , I want to believe that most people is comfortable reading subtitles in movies, specially people interested enough in Criterion Collection to be in this particular forum.

Now if that is your opinion it's ok, but considering Criterion history it's clear that complaining about that seems pretty pointless.

That eliminates Ingmar bergman and that japanese director. True stories seems strange. Some like it hot has been released about 20 times in restored prints (cant see how it could look any better on criterion) but i will be picking it up. That leaves the magnificent ambersons. Now that would be a good month. Oh i forgot criterion doesnt like william wyler or gary cooper so i would have to scratch off sergeant york and all the cooper/wyler pairings. Probably still can get a few cary grant screwballs out of them but not this month.

So what a good month is for you is not a good month for me and vise versa

If subtitles on foreign movies were typed as poorly as this post of yours, I wouldn’t want to read them either.

That’s obviously not true. They could have released the masters that were already available but then most of the films would look like junk. Compare the UK master of The Kid to Criterion’s and it’s a massive difference.

Plus they cant regionlock UHD discs, wich means if they want to get an license from the studio, it will have to be a worldwide license instead of a US one, and I can imagine that will increase the cost for them.

Are the rumors of "After Hours" coming via Criterion true or are they baseless speculation? I feel that title has been rumored for years during every lead-up to monthly titles being released.
