Does anyone know anything about a possible District 9 slipcover for the case that appears to be an MNU bulletproof vest? There was an ad in Best Buy that showed it, but I haven't heard anything about it from anyone.

bupp...we needa wait and see till someone has the copy in there hands...usually big release do have slip covers...so my guess would be the probably will include a slip case

It's a Best Buy Exclusive. There's a picture of it in last month's Best Buy Blu-Ray Magazine.

P.S That SPHE never usually adds slipcovers to their Blu-rays. In rare cases, Ghostbusters or Dracula (and those are catalog titles)

I preordered from Amazon a few days ago for 18.99. It was a blind buy for me. I hope it was a good choice.

I was thinking the Grease DVD jacket which was equally horrible.

Yes. I liked the shakeycam in Cloverfield, but it was too much for me in District 9.

You know, I'm not so sure if those screencaps provided are actually official. There's a 720p rip of this movie out there, that honestly doesn't look much different from the R5 DVD rip, and I'm wondering if those screencaps are from the so called HD-rip out there (those first two pics aren't bluray menu pics, I've actually seen those before on DeviantArt.com).

Anyway, here some screencaps of the apparent 720p rip of this film:

Both the screencaps that I and st4ever have provided look a little too compressed for my tastes, especially when you consider the fact the film is shot digitally (and what happened to the washed-out cinematography look?) I don't know, maybe it's just me, but usually 'legit' bluray caps have a certain POP to them, I'm not seeing that with these.

I can assure you that those screen caps of the menu, are straight from an actual BD as well as the ones of the actual film. Unfortunately when the caps are converted to jpg they seem to loose a bit of their "glamour". You can't see the options of the menu because the program i have at the moment unfortunately does not capture the interactive button options i.e. "Play", "Special Features" etc, for some reason. I was surprised that it actually let me capture the "alien or human" menu option which is the first screen cap on my original post. Haven't figure out how to capture the full complete menu yet. 720p rips are crap and useless. Might as well get the DVD. They are missing everything but the movie and have only the simplest smallest audio track that is available from the original source. Usually no lossless is kept for those since the track is so big. Plus the fact that they are re-encoded and look terrible makes them pointless.
