Then the scene cuts to a prawn making the flower for her. I took it to mean that prawn was Wikus and Christopher will be back in 3 years to reverse the transformation (presumably in the sequel, District 10).

I know, right? In no way, shape, or form does District 9 resemble any Men In Black movie.

a few people i know who saw it actually agreed and said the prawns look like the aliens from MIB (THE LITTLE DUDES IN THE COFFEE BREAK ROOM SMOKING CIGS).. and they do, you can't disagree there; like the movie or not

Riiiiiiiight.

They also resembled "Brundle Fly" from The Fly.... so? Blomkamp wanted the aliens to be insect-like. That's what he got.

How does the resemblence of two fictional aliens from two different movies make one like the other? I mean MIB really?

thats all good, you should have stated that early then writing " yea it has aliens, its just like MIB"... glad to see you agree with me, all i was saying was they look just like the aliens from MIB.. there are a lot of fictional alien movies(kinda werid to write fictional considering there really is no proof for nonfictional aliens-MONOBLOCK), and they all look very different, except D9, they look like MIB coffee aliens

You just compared two movies that obviously have way more differences than similarities.

If the legs of the MIB guys were in the pic, you could see better, they have legs like prawns. I hate to admit but this guy is totally right, I just never noticed it. I love the movie though. I thought it was a great commentary on prejudice in society and human nature, and for the relatively low budget had great special effects. You can see the Blu in my collection

I edited my post to avoid an argument but I guess you quoted me anyway . I don't think they look similar enough to call it out personally. Sounds like you just didn't like the movie and are reaching for things to complain about. I have no issues if you just didn't like the flick .. not everyone I went with liked it either.
