Well after watching this over the weekend. I am rather disappointed not so much with the movie itself as with all the unnecessary bad language I would bet this movie holds the record for saying the "F-word". I just don't understand why they ruin a perfectly good movie with the pointless over use of the "F-word".

Generally speaking, most R rated films use the F-bomb quite a bit. I would assume (rented it from netflix) that if you look on the box where it gives the films rating, it should say why it's rated R (thematic elements, pervasive language etc etc) sometimes that will give you an idea as to where or why it received the rating it did.

That record's got to be held by Pulp Fiction. It's interesting that the language was what you pulled out of this movie. For me it was more violent than I expected. I liked it, but it was a little more than I was ready for.

I would think the average person who is
[Show spoiler]changing into an alien insect
would be under enough stress to drop an F-bomb or two.

Yeah, I wasn't all that impressed with the movie at first, but much like Wikus,
[Show spoiler]I went through a transformation as the movie progressed It pretty much started at the same time also, when Wikus got sprayed with the fluid.
I knew something was up at that point and that's when it started to gain my interest. By the end of the movie I was pretty interested in the character development of both Wikus and the alien Christopher Johnson. I think they did an excellent job with this, probably the most I've noticed of something like character development so far in a movie. It was a very unique movie, I thought, since it seemed to have some political overtones, but after further reading it appears District 9 was modeled after District 6, a ghetto in Cape Town, South Africa where 60,000 people were forcibly relocated in the 1960s because of their race. The film was actually shot in Chiawelo, a shack settlement where evictions took place. So it makes more sense to me now and I actually like the movie a little more knowing this relationship to real-world events.

Another interesting piece of trivia that I found pretty cool is that Jason Cope, who played UKNR Chief Correspondent Grey Bradnam, the narrator of the film, also had the role of the alien Christopher Johnson, actually all of the speaking aliens. He also voiced most of the police and pilots in the film. They used a CGI process to create Christopher that was similar to the one they used to create Gollum in Lord Of The Rings, where CGI is modeled after the actor's performance.

All in all, District 9 had a slow start for me, but it really gained momentum so I liked it a lot

What I'd like to know is that in the sequel, when
[Show spoiler]Christopher comes back in 3 years, will he come back with an armada to seek revenge, or will he just come back to pick up his people and make Wikus human again??
hmmm....

If no one has a digital copy code they are willing to give up, does anyone know how I can contact Sony to inform them that my blu-ray didn't come with one.

Really enjoyed this movie and wanted to put it on my laptop for when I'm traveling.

Thanks

I would avoid all that, and exchange the movie where you purchased it.

I ordered the movie thru Amazon, and I'm not sure if this movie comes with one because this is a blind buy for me.

My 2 cents, I loved the movie, honestly didnt even notice most of the F bombs I will have to rewatch it. I though it was a good story a very intersting take on racial segregation. I think it def has rewatch value, it has enough action to and violence, the violence of which i didnt expect, but the effects were top notch for a 30 million dollar movie! IMHO it looks better then most of the super hero movies that are out there.

The swear words are easy to miss with the thick accents. Some of them are in Afrikaans.

Yeah it is a great movie, and the blu-ray is very well done.

USA D9 = Awesome Movie

I loved the "Newscast/Documentary" format of the movie.

I also can't wait to see if "Christopher" returns to rescue his people and declare war on "us".

My copy at BB had the digital copy which I installed on my Win7 UE PC. I watched it on my HT, took it to my sisters house for XMAS and we watched it again and I have watched it on the PC. The digital copy expires 12-19-2010, and yea, the F-bomb is there but it seemed "natural" for the circumstances that were presented in the movies culture.

Great Movie!!
