The Wachowskis were a one hit wonder. The Matrix sequels couldn't compare and all post Matrix Wachowski movies have sucked. V for Vendetta was a idiotic political screed and Speed Racer was a noicey flash fest.

How did he miss the point? He is extremely faithful and loving to the graphic novel and he translates its themes beautifully to the screen. Prior to Synder the movie was gonna be a 2 hour, PG-13, set in modern times nightmare. Synder saved that movie and made a great movie for all times.

Default District 9 US BD availability ? Please Reply!l

Is there any other place online where this BD is available on the same price as the Amazon US have? Amazon US charges more ($13) to ship to my country (UAE). The US version is Region free and dirt cheap, so if there is any site which ships worldwide (United Arab Emirates) and having the cheap US District 9 Blu Ray please do let me know about that.

I don't know what you mean but Amazon has this for only $8.99 and they ships worldwide. Why do you wanna buy it from other sites?

yeah but i think for around 20 bucks including shipping to your country you will have a hard time finding it at a better price.
you could always try ebay, some sellers ship internationally for around 5 bucks.
then again, if you're from the emirates, i doubt 20 bucks are such a big amount of money

I wish I could watch it for the first time again, I saw it four times in the theater alone. I can tell from your collection that you enjoy a well-conceived sci-fi film, so I'm almost positive you'll love this. Especially for only a cool $9.

I enjoyed the film so much I wrote a review on Amazon to counter the (few) complaints leveled at the film, which eventually became my most successful one on the site (based on votes). If interested, it's under the name Leif Sheppard and it's the first one on the Blu listing.

Neat bit of Trivia:

The D9 Exo suit originally had a very different design, it really was more of a suit than a robot. It was designed and even 100% physically built as a prop by Weta Workshop before being discarded for a new design:

I just read the really good review of 'District 9' on this website and decided to take an informed risk and buy a film that I have never so much as seen a trailer for, with the price as good as it currently is on Amazon. It's the first but almost certainly not the last time I will do that on blu-ray. Now I'm just hoping its not as bad as some of the less well informed risks I made on DVD..

If you enjoy sci-fi action movies, the ending is gonna blow your socks off! This was a blind buy for me as well and I wasn't real sure of what to expect, but I was absolutely pleased with my purchase when it was over! It's one of my most watched BDs.

The Shaky Cam is just a tool. Like any tool it can be used too much. It has its place. To say a Director is bad because they use a shaky cam seems kind of simplistic. There are a lot of other techniques that can be just as annoying when over used. Including some CGI fast cut fight club'esqe scenes that seem to be a dime a dozen in movies today.

I think the use in District 9 added to the documentary feel without becoming to much of a crutch. I appreciate that the movie evolved out of that documentary style more towards a regular movie presentation as it progressed.

It is an enjoyable throw your brain out the door sci-fi flick. Entertaining for sure!

Its OK. I think it was overhyped. I don't know how much of that was coming from the studio as a push for an Oscar. I was expecting something on the epic scale of Alien or Aliens. I bought it and watched it once. Since then I have bought Chronicles of Riddick and Starship Troops, which I had seen before and have watched them several times on BD since. So, its OK, but I think over hyped.

You like Riddick and Starship Troopers more than District 9? hmmmm

I guess each to his own but I was so disappointed in last year's Oscars when District 9 did not win anything. Best movie went Hurt locker, what a Joke that was.

it is in no way, throw your brain outside the door. I'm sure it relates to everyone that lived in a tent before and refugees as well.
District 9 had a point and a message.

I enjoy them more, yes. And Hurt Locker too. I watched that 4 or 5 times, thought it was a much better movie then District 9. Of course to each their own. I watched Avatar more then District 9 also, although I think its overhyped and the visuals are a 10 while the story a 7. I was more entertained by 2012 then District 9 too. I even think the movie District 9 ripped off, Alien Nation, is a better movie. And District B13 too.

I don't know what you were expecting, but regardless, the quality on this release is stellar, in video and audio alike.

Anyways, I see people questioning others about what they like vs. what they don't like. I loved District 9... but I can certainly understand it's not a film for everyone, and I'm fine with that. I enjoyed it, and that's all that matters.
