Why besides sucking for us fans of the film is this a bad move? Don't you realize how many gift cards are gonna be out there a few days after Christmas? The movie will sell plenty of copies.

I was just thinking that.

Only problem is they're not releasing it on December 26th. December 29th is going to be a weekend too late. Still a dumb move overall (unless they're simply not ready, then by all means, wait).

I think it's a good move. This will likely be the biggest movie coming to BD after Christmas. Lots of competition prior to that. Transformers 2, Star Trek, Harry Potter, Terminator Salvation, The Hangover, Up, GI Joe....

Gift cards are a popular gift.

Sony hasn't had alot of hits this year, so maybe they want to make sure this doesn't get lost in the crowd.

This does suck that it was delayed till after Christmas but I can wait the extra 2 weeks since I will be busy with The Hangover, Harry Potter 6, and Inglourious Basterds!

Still have yet to see this, it looked really good in theatres. Sadly most of my friends thought it looked bad, they must be a little slow. Regardless, not too disappointed about a delay. November/December gonna be pricey and busy enough without District 9 coming out too. I'm pretty relieved actually. Too bad it's not out for Boxing Day the 26th. Boxing Day, the day after Christmas in Canada from my understanding is just like Black Friday in the states. Huge sales everywhere.

If you look at the higher-res versions of the cover art at IGN, it looks like they either misspelled "blow" in the review quote at the bottom or the L and the O are strangely close together. Hopefully that one gets fixed.

I think the sky looks too bright, it just doesn't match the content of the movie, but it's not as bad as the hangover's cover art

Can't wait for this movie, day one for me as well.
Saw it in the theater and loved it, even my wife loved it and everytime we see a pic for it or a clip she just wants to watch it again.
My current HTPC wallpaper now is one for D9 and everytime I turn it on, she tells me that she can't wait to watch it.
