This is going to be a simply awesome Blu-ray release!!!

Definately a first day buy for me!!!!

And that's the 7th December here in South Africa!!!

Yay! Proudly South African! So this is one of my Christmas presents to myself....hahahah

Definitely! Second best movie I've seen this year (Inglourious Basterds beat it by a nose)! I've already pre-ordered District 9 on Amazon.

It's not a movie for everyone, I didn't think it was amazing but it's somewhere in my top 10 not top 5. It's a simple and different movie that makes it unique but it also feels empty somehow.

Ouch! That Steelbook cover looks SWEET!!!

I want that soooo bad!

But seeing that we South Africans are getting District 9 on Blu-ray December 7th, I'm in a great deal of doubt that we will be graced with a steelbook copy - can always hope though!!!!

As usual I'm going to be left high and dry with the usual 'blu' box (Note: It's still awesome!) without a slipcover too!!!

(The only problem with SA releases!)

I was in touch with a South African acquaintance if he had seen this movie. His had not but did offer an interesting (for those who saw/loved this movie) side note..

"Yes I have read about Distrik 9 (filmed on a shoestring budget in Soweto, near Johannesburg but haven't seen it. It coined its title from a play on Distrik Ses.

Distrik Ses (Afrikaans for District Six) was a notorious area in Cape Town in the bad old days of apartheid. It was populated by a motley mixture of 'Cape Coloureds' (mulatos who speak a patois version of Afrikaans called 'skollie' *), Blacks - but not many -, Muslim descendents of slaves, a jumble of 'poorwhites' and some Chinese."

Actually, they are already talking about a sequel, District 10. So, there was meaning to the end, one way or the other.
