I bought Mirror Mask having never seen it and didn't care for it. I bought Shinobi having never seen it and thought it was OK, at least worth keeping, and I bought True Blood having never seen it and thought it was great. In fact I can't wait to buy season two even if season two has yet to air on HBO. It goes to Blu Ray and I want it, even if it's next year or the year after. Cheaper to buy the season than to subscribe to HBO.

I try not to blind buy but sometimes a disc comes along with such immense AV quality its hard to resist. Baraka and Ratatouille being two examples. I wouldn't have given them a second glance on DVD but they were amongst the first BR titles I bought. My only other blind buys were Kill Bill vol 1 & 2.

Can't stand either of them. Volume two in particular. Awful movies.

I highly enjoy every one of those as well.....

"The Reader" surprisingly enough..... is the only one my wife really didn't like (of course it wasn't as much of a chick-flick as I anticipated.... it was much deeper and much better than I had thought it would be)

To answer the OP's question...... I couldn't really vote, because my answer would be "Rarely" and "For various reasons"

about 1/3 give or take a few. Often the "Blind buys" will be ones I trade off if I did not like them so that keeps the % down.

Out of my collection maybe like six blinds. Mostly movies that I wanted to see but never got a chance to go to the theater.

Exactly my thoughts, only a moron would blind buy all his BD's, that is a waste of money, isnt?

"It's a good mix."

There are several I picked up solely based on recommendations and reviews I read here on Blu-ray.com. And I rarely, if ever, did that for DVD. The high definition quality of BD has been the factor is speeding up the growth of my BD library with blind buys. Some of my blind buys have been Band of Brothers, Baraka, 3:10 to Yuma, How the West Was Won and Flags of Our Fathers. Otherwise, my library would solely be filled with comic book films, Harry Potter, Disney flicks and Star Trek.

Edited to add: Actually, I'd like to see the Collection feature on BD.com to include sorting by "blind buy".

I have made a few blind buys on movies that I missed in cinema and did want to see.

But I have done some rare random blind buys without seeing the movie or adverts but those have been in an an offer like 3 for 2 offer and I needed title to do the offer.

So far the blind buys for me have that caught my attention have been worth it and I liked them.

But the majority of my collection has been brought becasue I seen them.

I would be supprised if someone brought all their movies on blind buys. They might as well give their money away.

Except for going to see Knowing when it was out and Star Trek, I hadn't been to the theater in a couple of years so a lot of the newer releases are blind buys for me. But, it is rare for me to not like a movie so I feel pretty safe in doing so.
