i blind buy quite often, and i have a few valid reasons for doing so.

1. i do consider myself a collector, so i like having a variety laying around.

2. considering when me and my gf went to see angels and demons we spent $19 on just the tickets, plus another $8 for popcorn and a drink. thats $27 for a "blind buy" so to speak. id rather take the chance and just buy it and have it at home, if i hate it o well but if i love it then i can know how much i saved.

3. some movies that i would never of thought i would enjoy, like pans labrynth/hero's seasons 1 and 2/ the godfather ( yes until 2 months ago i was a 24 yr old man that had never watched the godfather, as i usually dont enjoy those kind of movies). i like finding diamonds in the rough. and if i have extra cash around its a great way to spend my hard earned cash. maybe 50% or 60% of my collection are blind buys

I have curbed my blind buying of movies quite a lot since transitioning to BD. So far my only blind buys on BD are The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button. So far, so good.

I might blind buy Knowing, despite many bad reviews. I have a soft spot for apocalyptic movies, plus I really like I, Robot and Dark City (also by Proyas).

I have been fortunate that out of the 7 Blind Purchases I have made, only 2 have been busts(But luckily these were less then $8.00 Each New).
But I will admit now I try to find any and all info on a movie before I make a purchase.

I blind buy all the time; it's about the same price as two movie tickets, there's no risk of loud, rude audience members or crummy projection, and I get to keep the movie forever. It's pretty much win-win.

Plus I love bad movies as much as good ones for their own awful charms, so it takes a lot for me to actually regret buying one.

Your poll needs to include a "Just a small percentage" option. Out of about 75 blus that I own, only 10 were blind buys.

Twilight
Tropic Thunder
RAMBO
National Treasure 1
National Treasure 2
Pirates of the Caribbean 1-3
Quantum of Solace
Taken

I own 100 BDs. I'd say 10 if that many have been blind buys.

Out of the 60 or so I have, the only blind buys have been the DC Animated films, and 30 Days of Night. All worth it.

The very movie that made me step away from Sylvester Stallone.

Good times, good times.

I generally don't buy blind movies unless Jerry Bruckheimer produces it but that is what I have netflix for if I miss it in the theater I'll rent them first and if they are crap I'll return it I hight recommend netflix I get all my blu's from them.
