I myself cannot wait until the format launches full tilt and then we can discuss 4K Movies and afford this the time it deserves

When zee news is a bit slow, if we’re all friends in this here community, personally, I don’t think occasional off topic meanderings do any harm….certainly not as much as compared to the nearly constant incorrect on topic postings (stated or presumed as fact) in other threads which then someone has to take the time (their time) to correct in order to set the record straight….or try to ignore, in which the ignorance then stands as truth to the otherwise clueless readers.

As with most things in life, moderation is the key.

Alas, then we’ll have plenty of opportunities to rehash, yet again, the native (4K) vs. upscaled content debates, the labeling of the Ultra HD Blu-ray boxes, etc.

Meanwhile, this discussion hosted at Sony Pictures Studio, Digital Motion Picture Center (DMPC) should keep the deadly serious 4K on topic purists well occupied (from a moderator who went into the panel discussion with a decidedly skeptic, some observers might even describe as a combative anti-4K position)…..

As the P man said, a little bit of off topic discussion is par for the course on pretty much every thread on every forum ever, if people went around reporting every little post that didn't meet with their requirements then these places would be even more joyless than they currently are.

It's not about "needing" to know, it's a few online amigos shooting the breeze while waiting for more 4K news. We managed to successfully veer off topic earlier in the thread, ending up discussing the Americanisation (is that a word?) of British/Irish culture which had precisely nothing to do with 4K and yet no-one ran off crying to the mods in that case. I wish you guys wouldn't be so bloody precious just because the devilry that is professional sport happens to be mentioned, and I ain't saying y'all can't moan about it but reporting posts is a dick move IMO.

Shame that football talk is OK but someone voicing an even slightly weary opinion on something about a product that is not out yet has to wade thru a massive ignore list!

Eh, it's not my problem you've blocked everyone who likes to talk about the footy.

I don't care about your opinion on football their was only one or two posts about football that got carried into the 4K thread but don't worry it won't happen again we have mods for that so you can relax.

Quick question: is it wrong to predict that Mad Max: Fury Road, The Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Gallows, San Andreas, American Sniper, Man of Steel, Jupiter Ascending, Edge of Tomorrow, Into the Storm, The Great Gatsby, Vacation, Sherlock Holmes, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Focus, Get Hard The Hangover, The Hangover Part II, The Hangover Part III, Run All Night, The Lego Movie, and Magic Mike XXL will represent the first few waves from WB's 4K Blu-Ray releases? All have been mastered in 4K and are already available in Vudu.

You can look at technical specs on IMDB for every movie and see how it was done (4k or 2k or somewhere in between).

Mad Max Fury Road
Digital Intermediate (2K) (master format)

For example.

For the deadly serious, there will be a quiz as to whether Light Iron (http://lightiron.com/)
assesses a significant up charge to do a 4K finish (as opposed to a 2K finish).

Yep, all topics game except football it seems. Even two or three posts.

Anyway, no post reporting from me, not now,not ever, regardless of how bored I am with the thread subject.
