![]() ![]() Like with most everything, you’ve got to start somewhere on the journey to improve upon things, e.g. the Dolby ‘Seymour’ display used for assessing simultaneous dynamic range of the HVS …..3rd publication down on the list here --> https://www.linkedin.com/in/timo-kunkel-bb021917 A free pdf of the paper is probably still online if you do a little searching. According to Deluxe's theater details, 'Dunkirk' from Christopher Nolan will be shown in theaters in 4K. It's a Warner Bros. release so I have little doubt it will be coming to UHD disc, but officially there is no word yet.
Plot:

Tell me about it, just travelling up from the Dorset coast to Londinium costs me a packet! But it was well worth it for Interstellar and BvS, and I'll do so again for Dunkirk next year. See you there bud!

Hey MisterXDTV, what's the source on the info in that spreadsheet? While I intend to see a true 70mm Imax presentation, I'm disappointed the 4k will be created from the 35mm IP. I can only hope that the eventual UBD release will be sourced from the 8k directly.

I just found this much needed feature!
![]() --- Back on Topic --- It's nice to see more movies coming out in 4K in theaters! I just hope the trend continues. Some big movies coming up are Dunkirk, Sully, and Rogue One. I am sure I am missing a few more though... Last edited by RealorFake4K; 09-01-2016 at 04:29 PM. Reason: formatting |

But I think Signore XDTV has got it wrong on this occasion, as in this case it makes no sense to use a completely blown down 35mm IP to create the theatrical 4K master from. For a show shot on five and fifteen perf 65mm adding another generational step to a lower res format when it's not needed seems counter productive. Nolan may be a film junkie, but he's not stupid. This is originally from the Interstellar site but pasted from in70mm.com re: the digital cinema version: Quote:

On a related note... Mr. Cameron, forget about Avatar 2, 3, 4, and 5 and get back to work on restoring 'True Lies', 'The Abyss', 'Terminator', and obviously 'Piranha 2' for 4K. As I recall, T2 and Titanic have already been restored/converted for 4K and are ready for UHD. |
