Or, think of it in this way. Two lines must be at least 1 arcminute apart to be assured that they are seen (by people with ‘normal’ 20/20 vision) as separate (resolved), but a misalignment of only 1/10 of this value can easily be detected in two abutting lines, see…

Hardly, again see Table 1 in the provided link…it’s more like 2-10 arc seconds!

I mean really….some tech reporters should realize that the above information is all “basic biology” to imaging scientists. Interesting aside about The Hobbit (not mentioned by Ted ^ and honestly, probably not known by him) is that worldwide, after the digital projector upgrades (which varied in expense), just about 3,800 auditoriums were capable of projecting the 3D HFR version….and only about 1,200 – 1500 actually were sent the DCPs in order to do so.

I guess that was to ‘protect’ the format....

In regards to the above ^ and 4K acquisition patent infringement news (or lack thereof), I’m advised that assuming procedural and jurisdictional issues are not in dispute, RED must respond to the Sony complaint within 21 days after having been served [Fed R Civ P 12(a)(1)(A)(i)], so I figure RED’s got about two more business weeks (tic-tok) to craft their response. The upcoming Ghostbusters “Mastered in 4K” 1080p Blu-ray is coming out soon. Do members think that spiffy looking x.v. Color logo will be on the back of the box? And given that, wouldn’t any reasonable consumer assume that the Blu-ray software in the box was encoded using this extended color gamut?
