![]() C’mon Sony! bring down those prices on your fabulous 4K TVs so price conscious folks can partake this Holiday season as your resizing algorithm is superb. ![]() P.S. Note: To any readers living in the Buffalo area, I don’t think buying this Vizio TV is considered ‘essential travel’…. http://www.nytimes.com/2014/11/22/ny...york.html?_r=5 |

The 35mm didn't look perfect, don't get me wrong, which is why I said it looked about as good as I'd expect, given that it's been blown up from IP material. The big ol' close-up of McConaughey crying looked incredibly soft, but other shots really did look excellent, there were several close-ups of Ms Chastain near the end that were nice and sharp, and the rest of the 35mm scenes were somewhere inbetween. I don't know if Nolan actively softens the images, I think it's more a case of him liking the look of certain lenses. Not all glass is created equal, and given how some DPs request specific serial numbers when acquiring lens packages it wouldn't surprise me if Nolan did the same thing, using much older anamorphic primes which don't have the resolving power of more modern glass. Having recently watched Inception on Blu again I was very impressed at how good the 35mm stuff looked, so if the Interstellar Blu falls below that level of quality then we'll know something's up. |

I would agree that it was soft and fuzzy if i never saw it again at another theater. I must of been lucky to find that one. It was literally perfect. |

Speaking of Kris; Nice review of the new Sony 4K projector in the December issue of S&V. In a time where, imo, the display market has gone to crap, these words give me hope that i still have something to look forward too-
"You want the look of a giant plasma in your home theater? You got it. " ![]() |

Until then, another thing that I’m still a bit perplexed ![]() ![]() the focus itself in some shots seemed *off*. Intentional? or not?...honestly, I don’t know. What I’m talking about is that for instance, instead of the presumed (by me) center of attention in the scene being the most sharply focused, I’d see something relatively inconsequential, behind or in front of it, to be the most in focus. Or, looking at the illustrative pic above, imagine the shirt of the guitarist being in perfect focus rather than his fingers on the strings. |

It’s just that it has been mucho R&D $$ and a loooong time in coming since the first - http://www.oled-info.com/sony-xel-1 . For perspective, once challenged by President Kennedy, we got a man on the moon in 8 years time. We’re now at 7 years with OLED. Less than highly discerning/elitist viewers who simply can’t or don’t want to spend that much money on a TV, may desire an alternative in the meantime at attractive price points, namely LCD/LED. I think it’s all good. ![]() |

All mute for me the TV screens as it will be a projector if anything next, however, I will consider a 4K monitor for the PC. |

It needs to improve more too. Besides blacks, the best plasmas out perform it in everything else. Or it's at equal level. |
