Exactly! Dolby Cinema has become the best choice for premium experience for me. The Atmos system is far superior to IMAX's channel based system. The HDR seems to be done with care and makes for a better experience. The fact that they don't shove 3D to it makes it even better.

I was very impressed with LG's 1080p OLED TV, as well as the Samsung 4K LCDs. They don't compare to the OLEDs, but they are far better than they used to be. I saw some 4K footage of House of Cards, Bloodlines, Breaking Bad, and Daredevil. Overall, it was quite good, but with one exception: whenever the LCD TVs showed nighttime footage, such as Daredevil, there was a horrendous amount of noise in the picture, far more than just mere sensor noise. I also noticed Breaking Bad looked very odd at times because the TV did a very poor job of rendering grain naturally. I can only imagine what The Walking Dead would look like on these sets.

I remember when I was shopping for a new TV a few years ago, I used BDs of Up and Casino Royale. Up was a test to see how well a TV could display a "noiseless" image, and the black and white sequence in Casino Royale was a good test to see how well the TV could display coarse grain. The LCD TVs failed, particularily with the grainy sequence.

Did anyone else notice this with the 4K Netflix footage?

i came across these posts somehow while searching, honestly i cant read the next 80 pages to see what else was said.

but i want to comment that i agree. the dark scenes on the 4k stuff on netflix is horrendous. blacklist season 1 is top notch. but virtually everything 4k they have added since looks HORRIBLE. grainy and noise on anything not outside in bright environments. amazon prime HDR completely destroys netflix, theres no grain and no noise whatsover. ( i have a JS9500 by the way).

any idea what is up with the netflix 4k dark scenes? is netflix aware of this issue? a bunch of members on another forum agree with me, that the 1080P stuff on netflix usually looks better than the 4k stuff because of this.

Netflix seems to have compression issues in dark scenes but for me those are only visible if the screen is set to bright.
