![]() I own 2 PS3's, one PS4 and thinking of buying a FF15 LE version this year. I wanted to buy the MGSV LE too. I'll purchase a PS4 slim with 4K bluray also. Casual consumers don't do this. I highly doubt more power will change this stance. All it's going to do is confuse them: Didn't the PS4 just come out? Why is another one coming out already? It's more powerful? But don't consoles last at least 5 years? Why do i have to buy another one so soon? It's changing to every 3 years now? What? I Just spent $500 on a PS4 and games. I don't have to upgrade? But that PS4 makes games look better. How long will my console be supported? I won't buy it either. Not supporting something that divides the market. |

Positioned, not speced
And the elite had HDMI and 1080p output so had a different spec Are you just taking every contairy stance you can find? Last edited by dvdmike; 03-20-2016 at 05:49 PM. |

If Sony and MS go through with this they'll be effectively marketing a brand new console. Quote:

Same with this is you want 4k. And over clocked is not a new spec, and you are the one arguing spec and people are obsessed with FPS and this may help with that and help with the poor spec they had in the first place. I was saying how they can sell it, and will you are just flipping to another point to win an arguement you are having on your own |

As to the current PS discussion, I did like this corporate adjustment….

I don't think they'll introduce new consoles until they are ready to do UHD HDR gaming, but Sony might come out with the console option that includes UHD BD playback and 4k/HDR streaming (and perhaps downloads). |

Makes no sense for Sony to make a PS4.5 when they could just wait 2 more years and release the PS5 and take better advantage of the available GPU and memory advances. A new model that plays 4K is no brainer this year. |

BD drives aren't expensive anymore. They can lower the price of the current model and make the 4K version take it's place at $350. The highest it would be is $399. They can bundle a 4K movie with it to help adoption like they did bluray with PS3.

I don't think that Microsoft/Sony would release a half generation game console but I think they are working on the next ones that will be released in 2 or 3 years.
At the recent game developers conference Microsoft talked about their plans for HDR. Microsoft will support two HDR encoding methods in Windows. 10-bit HDR with 10,000 nits of brightness and the Rec. 2020 color space. 16-bit HDR with 5.2 million nits of brightness and the sRGB color space. I am disappointed to see that Microsoft went with sRGB for 16-bit HDR but they made it a simple method to keep it cheap and it will likely get replaced in a few years. Also the 16-bit HDR method that Microsoft made has 1/80th the precision of the 16-bit HDR method used in the video industry (with Microsoft 1.0 is equal to 80 nits while with the video industry 1.0 is equal to 1 nit). |
