If you don't want to waste your money on an IMHO sub par movie then skip Ghostbusters 2016. Get the original instead. |

He wants a jaw dropping 4k blu ray. Sorry, but Ghostbusters 1984 aint dropping any jaws. The new one however, is seen as a top 5/top 10 reference PQ for the 4k hdr format. Advising he skip 2016 for 1984 because of personal bias is bad advice. And yes, I'm a huge Ghostbuster fan that originally said I would never watch the remake, but he's talking straight PQ. It looks great and I actually enjoyed the movie more than I thought I would. |

Well if you read what he said, he specifically mentioned PQ. He specifically mentioned something vivid and colorful. Did you miss that part? Nothing about Ghostbusters 1 fits that criteria. I created the master HDR list thread over on avs which has nearly 12,000 posts in just over a year, and I can tell you that probably 90 % of the posters actually enjoyed Ghostbusters 2016 and it was better than they expected it to be and it is usually a recommended movie for someone wanting to experience a terrific HDR picture. You know what movie NEVER gets recommended for PQ? Ghostbusters 1984. I am curious if you've ever seen the 4k hdr version of 2016 or only going off a theater experience? If you have seen it, what tv was used? Last edited by ray0414; 12-19-2016 at 07:06 AM. |

I remember when I was involved in underwater cinematography, I would display (16mm film projector) to my parents some of the most beautiful images of fish I'd filmed from dive spots from the Caribbean to the Red Sea they’d ever seen, but alas, if there was no plot or story line to hold their attention or my narration was boring, thee effect of thee *eye candy* wore off rather quickly. *Remembrance note to old school diving buddies like Al Giddings… R/V Eagle Pier 40 ![]() Last edited by Penton-Man; 12-21-2016 at 01:32 AM. Next planned feature 120fps shoot now has an o-fficial title on imdb….Thrilla in Manila (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3542810/?ref_=nm_flmg_dr_1) with production planned to start next summer. Budgeted (by Studio 8…. http://www.fosun.com/language/en/p/9522.html) for nearly twice

You’re quite well informed if you know about the associated CGI ($$) R&D project for Thrilla in Manila, not normally reported in traditional press outlets. Rather than my Mandarin translation

Not Roger, but a Christmas cookie and $10. goes out to anyone (in the U.S., I don't ship international) who can correctly answer which cinematographer shot the flying airplane sequence at about the 45 sec. timestamp
often seen in Dolby demos or by bloggers using the frame grab. Googling will be of doubtful help. |
