I would be pretty annoyed if Paramount actually didn't release this 4K mastered film on UHD after releasing nothing but 2K upscales (besides Allied)

This rather “Nice one” snobbish attitude in a tweet about 3D by the social media person posting for the UHD Forum has been brought to my attention…https://twitter.com/UltraHDForum/sta...35208321466368 .

For the record, that tone ^ does not reflect the empathy to 3D fans by all members of the UHD Forum. Personally, if one desires to compare successes, I would like to know if that tweeter has remained at the same job description in their company for as long as the run of 3D in D-Cinema and Blu-ray.

3D was always going to be a tough challenge to bring to consumers, effortlessly (glasses and such), so there is no reason to rub it in to the 3D aficionados. Try not to be so smug, for Hugo gives his opinion of the mother organization “falling on its face” at about the 47min 30sec mark of the linked YouTube here…..https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...a#post13097273

And if you desire to parade around the phrase ‘true colors’ as consumer
electronics companies move towards entirely fulfilling the BT. 2020 color space, I welcome you to come here on Blu-ray.com and educate us as to how that will work out given the differences in humans' retinas, observer metamerism….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...m#post12917887 and TVs designed around those three current color primaries for motion picture work.

Default Super Disappointed in some 4K Material:

I guess I don't mean in the content but two of my "day one" purchased from a binge session of films aren't going to be released (or haven't mentioned anything about it.)

Nocturnal Animals (dir. Tom Ford)
&
A Monster Calls (dir. J. A. Bayona)

Is it just me or has anyone found any information on these releases?

Not everything is going to be in 4K right off the bat, especially relatively "small" films like those. Give the format time; we'll get there.

This thread title is super disappointing. I thought it was going to be a list of poorly encoded 4K titles to stay away from. As far as lack of titles, welcome to the wonderful world of the early adopter.

I should rephrase it lol but also, what's even more disappointing the only place I can buy 4K blurays is 3 and a half hours away (besides online retailers) 🙄🙄

Walmart sells them online, but none in store. It's retarded lol. (Having to face DVDS is a worse punishment, I can hardly endure it.)

I agree with the OP, it's disappointing that some movies just aren't getting 4K releases. I understand that there's limited commercial appeal to some of these titles, but something like Silence - shot on film, with some of the most gorgeous photography of the year, and (according to IMDb) finished in 4K - getting snubbed is a huge disappointment.

Have yet to see it... My local theatre contains the fodder films like:
Sing, rouge one, patriots day, etc.

I really have to go out of my way to see anything that I'm pumped for, so Silence will probably be a blind buy.

Focus Features, get your ass on 4K, as for you paramount? Shunned...

That's the one that annoys me the most. All but one title released by Paramount since they started putting out UHDs have been 2K upscales.

Now the studio actually finishes a movie in 4K for once, and the UHD is nowhere to be found. They can have 4K versions of the new Michael Bay Ninja Turtles movie, but they apparently can't invest in 4K for a new film from a legendary director like Martin Scorsese (or it's cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto)... it's an insult.

Most of the studios are now run by younger MBA types. They're glorified bean counters and not movie makers.
