Has anyone seen Cold War (2018) -

in L.A. - https://www.fandango.com/laemmle-roy...C/theater-page
or anywhere else it may be playing?

If I can’t get there, I might have to wait until it arrives on Prime.

2019 will be the 80th anniversary of Gone with the Wind. I believe they already re-released a 4K scan in theaters so surely it’ll be available sometime this year at home.

It would be in Academy ratio, and I’ve been wondering if that (black side bars) is holding studios back from releasing such movies in UHD. Not because of bars per se, but the cries from the buyers complaining about no full screen presentation being sold for their 4K 55 inch tv’s. Look at how tv shows in 1.33 have been widescreened for syndicated showings. The general public is being conditioned to expect everything in widescreen/full screen.

Myself, I would Day 1 for Casablanca, Wizard of Oz, & GWTW.

It’s hard to believe it’ll be higher than 2K, all that CGI and stuff.

Why is this a secret that’s so difficult to find out? Studio state secrets?
Did the source for DCP info dry up? I remember Penton’s explanation for all the code acronyms embedded in the master info going to the theatres.

unfortunately the one source anyone could look up to see the DCP codes and such online, Deluxe made it only available to theater exhibitors exclusively - I think Technicolor retained this ability but not all titles are included in their master list of DCP titles.

They should be conditioned to learn that there is a button on their TV remote to go fullscreen or stretch the picture if that's what they want to see.
It's heresy - but that button is there for them.

Zavvi just put up pre-order for Alien 40th anniversary 4K. Also I've been waiting for 45th Anniversary of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Does anybody have any idea if we're going to get it and is it going to be 4K?

I'm confused - what's the purpose for this thread - are we just throwing out little tidbits of new 4K titles willy-nilly? or 4K content/movies that are being theatrically getting released as such and hopefully eventually released on 4K UHD disc? I thought the latter.

Don't know where to post this but I had an inexplicable impulse to compare 2018 and 2017 4K figures. I did a quick count and there does not seem to be any growth (at least in number of US releases). Roughly 200 new releases in 2018 and 220 in 2017. Sales did go up by more than 35% worldwide though. The number of releases announced so far for January and February is roughly 60% higher than last year, so assuming the trend continues, then we will see significantly more releases this year. My question is: what was the bottleneck in 2018? Was it authoring resources, replication facilities, or was it just studio decision making?

Oops: Nevermind, there were ~290 releases in 2018, not 200!

4K TV adoption rate really took off during this holiday season, so I believe that the studios will scale up their 4K releases this year to match. We're all in for a nice surprise this year now that the studio got to see what new 4K TV technologies are in the pipe-line as revealed during this past weekend at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas.

Looks like Gemini Man is getting the same 4k 120fps 3D treatment as Billy Lynn: https://www.ibc.org/production/ang-l...a/3505.article

Hopefully a 60p UHD Blu will follow, unless Paramount get cold feet and dump it on Netflix.

I need more glorious gun action in 60fps.

Billy Lynn was a boring ass movie, but this sounds more promising, if not for more exciting pacing alone.
