I haven't really been in the thread for it to see if that's common but holy hell I couldn't agree more. I've only got to the hour mark of it and I couldn't go further despite its being 60fps and demo, and HDR.

Was it ever actually confirmed that Roma was actually finished in 4k *and* had a 4k dcp?

The 70mm thing means nothing since we’ve seen 2k masters released that way over the last couple years (Kong, RPO).

Genuinely curious if someone actually saw the pdf for the dcp. I can’t find it now.

Nice! I'm so glad to see Ang Lee is going back in for a second dip.

It was absolutely finished in 4K (shot 6.5K on the Alexa 65), that's one of Netflix's most basic requirements for any content created under their aegis. Did it have a 4K DCP? Not a clue.

From AC Jan '19:

Quote:
Finishing was performed in 4K with 16-bit open float linearized Log C EXR files, using Autodesk Lustre/Flame 2019 Connected Colour Workflow software on Lenovo ThinkStation P920 machines.

Speaking only for myself, I’m praying this gets a 4K or higher transfer (hmm, 8K for the 65mm footage). Would make a fantastic 4K UHD release, and potential future 8K release for those high falutin’ (sp?) 8K tvs.

I don't know if this will have a 4k DCP, but the documentary Aquarela was shot at 96fps and is getting some 48fps Atmos screenings. This is the type of content I can totally support HFR for.

wow so go figure, a real 4k DCP and yet this title they chose to release blu-ray only!!!!

and so much their talk of no demand as it seems a few places overseas did get it in UHD, but they are all sold out (other than for a few super gouge steelbooks) and ebay is all $50+

apparently France will get a version in a few days, still 29 euros plus shipping though

Amazon USA had gotten a few of the imports it seems, but they apparently all sold out instantly

Hah, I knew the My Fair Lady 55th had to be 4K, it looked amazing when I saw it the other week! But the sad thing is, yet another title, having a big anniversary, major title, already set in 4k and yet for the home.... they release a re(worse)-packaged blu-ray with no UHD to be seen! Same thing happened with The Sound Of Music, South Pacific, Beetlejuice last year, all nice 4k DCP and yet for the home nothing new released at all certainly not on physical media! Same for Titanic as well, got that fancy, amazing looking new 4k Dolby release in the theaters and for the home.... nothing.

yet they dump 2k DI after 2k DI on UHD.

A shame Captain Marvel is only a 2K DI.
Pretty much only Star Wars is getting the 4K finishes (granted Star Wars is my favorite series of all time, so it's certainly a good one if there can only be one, but we really should be beyond just one in 2019!)
