And this recent persistence with his (and now some reporters) as to the importance of differentiating *true 4K* from *consumer 4K* by constantly referring to the later as 2160p as if they discovered America or the theory of relativity I find to be quite pompous when this was brought to light a year and a half ago here…https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...op#post5724086 as well as probably on other forums like Doom9 or the different vendor color grading-related forums/listservs.
As I previously said to another member, jolie “is 3996p….4K?” https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ie#post7667679 This obsession with whether consumer 4K is really *true* 4K is silly. Is 3656…4K? I ask because Academy 4K (a storage format) is 3656 x 2664. Is 3.6K …4K? I ask because the working central extraction (from which at least some things were blown-up) for the ‘4K’ motion picture The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo was 3600 x 1500 for the ‘4K’ DI. |

Meanwhile, for those who are able to access this clip in their region of the world and don’t recognize the significance of *the number 10* to Brazilian history, well - http://espnfc.com/video/espnfc/video?id=1485391&cc=5901
Or, for movie freaks who prefer to read or refer to imdb (https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...db#post7766874 ) for all things and don’t know what the hell Stee and I have been yapping about over the past several posts or don’t realize who Pele is/was, this is imdb’s blurb…http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0671446/bio What does all this Pele/Brazilian football talk have to do with 4K? Well, if the technical (which I spoke about on the last page) and the business side, which involves partners like Sony, FIFA and the World Cup rights holders can work everything out, then World Cup 2014 could become a significant driver for the 4K movement as to recognition by the worldwide public-at-large. |

![]() The only real exception to that, coincidentally (in regards to your Black Cats) has been that I followed the career of Claudio Reyna since he graduated from THE University…. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claudio_Reyna Also, I’m a donor to his foundation… http://www.claudioreynafoundation.org/ I don’t even watch the U.S. National Team play any WCQs, except when they go against Mexico since that’s a rather big rivalry for us Americans. So, I can’t help you out on the Jozy thing. The American player I admire the most…because of his excellent workman-like quality and skill (relative to other American field players) is without a doubt, Clint Dempsey. ![]() |

More 4K and sports (keeping in mind tennis doesn’t require nearly the same depth of field [ https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...rs#post7773541 ] as does football….

Dempsey seems to have deteriated since moving to Spurs in my opinion. Jozy altidore has medical tomorrow so it looks like deal is nearly complete. Scored over 50 goals in two seasons in Dutch league and looks strong. I always do my research but just wanted American point of view on him. Will keep you informed of his progress. |

The Prem is a tough league. I don’t have to tell you that very few Americans even qualify to be considered….much less chosen/hired to play there. Even fewer (goalkeepers aside) have long-term sustainable careers.

Does that *verbal guarantee* (vis-ŕ-vis a reporter) also apply to the K9-4K television at the 2 min. mark of this clip? I don't think any customers (despite what model/style of 4K display) should be excluded. |

Bigger sensors produce shallower depth-of-field because you have to use a longer lens to get the same field-of-view as you would on a wider lens with a smaller sensor. For example, if you are using a 50mm lens on Super-35, to get the same frame with 65mm camera in the same spot you'd have to use roughly a 100mm lens. That provides the same shot, but with shallower DOF because of the longer lens. 4K has been tried for instant replays so that they can zoom in and still see a clear image: http://www.theverge.com/2013/2/2/394...a-game-changer If we could get 4K security cameras, the cinematic trope of seeing a crystal clear face on surveillance footage zoomed in 1000% could come true! |

Sap, this accusation should tickle your fancy, i.e. the demos being *rigged*…. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/beh...r-hd-is-578724
And yet, Arri is in development of a future digital camera capable of at least 4K resolution. |

All this is true but it's an exception for the theater. Full 4K is 4096x2160. Movie theaters can reproduce that. Anything lower is just a compromise for different aspects ratios and whatever else that happens along the production chain. UHD TV's can never get 4096x2160 hence it's wrong to call it 4K. But i mean i guess it doesn't really matter. 3840 is not a big difference from 4096 and both will still get you over 8 million pixels. |

![]() But wait, maybe we can….because the DCI hasn’t spec-ed a container greater than 4096x2160 for D-Cinema, so maybe in this case, home theater has first dibs as to what ‘8K’ can refer to. ![]() Quote:
![]() https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...2A#post7742627 Never mind the far less than ‘full’ 4K effective resolution of the Red One. |

I found it last evening. Now give me a moment to track back to my original post on the topic to include that for context and also give a deserving tip of the hat to the photojournalist who captured it for Newsweek/The Washington Post.
