And that is where all the nonsense stemmed from to begin with

if american car manufacturers are putting out equal or better quality products out into a free market at competitive prices, the only reason people should not be buying them equal with foreign cars is due to misinformation, which i believe is a principal part to the failing us auto industry.
That's a big if.. You can't blame people for feeling the way they do about particular brands. It's Fords job to get them to feel differently. Obviously if somebody feels buying and Accord (like you) is better than buying a Ford or GMC model then Honda has done a better job earning their trust and money.

for some reason, people don't understand and see the value in ford, gm and chrysler/dodge. they think because they had a junky ford in the 80s, then they will have a juny ford in 08. its that type of ridiculous logic that will run this country straight into the ground.
I'm one of them with Ford. I do love Dodge trucks. It's not ridiculous to feel that way as I've had a long history with crappy Ford product.. They need to earn my money, not me give them 4th and 5th chances out of the kindness of my heart. It is their job to persuade me

Not dodging. My answer was that we've painted ourselves into a corner and have to rely on foreign. The big three are for all intents and purposes our "last stand"

here's a breakdown for you it basically says that while domestic car companies are closing their plants in america, foreign car companies are opening plants here. and the first link i posted talked about the parts coming from america. so you're saying that our money is going to japan for buying a toyota camary yet more money is leaving america for buying a ford mustang.

sounds like you need to do some research too.
There is nothing wrong with spreading the wealth to some other countries but my main point is that when you buy a new vehicle the main portion of the profits go back to where the head quarters are located.......

I actually own a 93 Acura Integra, it probably has 180,000 miles on it. No need to get a new one yet, bought in 1997 and still runs great. Best vehicle I've ever owned.

the pinto pic from before was a razz

2007 VW Fahrenheit (I had a mid-life crisis a while back -- what can I say).

2008 BMW 535i Sedan - Graphite Gray with gray leather and poplar wood trim, sport package and 6 speed manual. Getting ready to trade it in because I was t-boned by some dippy broad in an SUV while on her cell phone. Fixed by the dealer but . . .

2007 VW Toureg V8. It comes in handy when I make out calls.

1979 Triumph TR8 (same car as the TR7 but has a Buick built small block V8). Got this car when I was in high school. Typically British car that sometimes starts, sometimes doesn't. Sometimes stops, but most times doesn't.

Touching on the buy American thing, if an American company can build something that feels, rides, handles and smells like a German car, I'll buy it. But they can't and I doubt they ever will. Before I bought the VW Toureg, I thought about a Chevrolet (think it was a Tahoe but it might have been that other SUV they have). It was assembled in Mexico. Scratched that off my list rather quickly.

Buick-designed, the tooling was sold to Rover in 1964. Variations of the engine were used in Rovers, the TR8 and a few others.

You are right about that. I remember when I bought that car the salesman was telling me about the V8 being a Buick V8 but it was too small for American cars and that the British bought it and used it in their cars. It was a fun car back in the day (not very reliable, but fun when it worked).

Hubby drives a 2008 Chevy Silverado, I drive a 2008 Dodge Charger. We also have a 2007 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe. And for what its worth, my husband is a former auto worker and both our fathers were steelworkers. They all lost their jobs. I would never insult any of them by buying a foreign car.

You can thank the foreign new car buyers for that. It wont be long before we have millions out of work right behind them......Yes millions because as we lose jobs in the manufacturing sector that spending power dries up. That directly effects the small business owners in this country. Remember this when your neighbor loses his job, then another neighbor, then another.
Its already happening. If you think the economy is bad now just wait until the big 3 fall.

I am at work, I don't have time to go surfing the internet to find your damn proof. I'm towing the line enough as it is frequenting this forum daily. And to say "this is just too stupid to reply to", and then to reply, is in itself quite stupid.
