See what I mean.
Just wondering since you’re here. I saw the theatrical presentation of “300” and it is a grain fest for sure……… and intended as such by the Director.

I never did get to watch this movie on high-def optical disc in my home theater.
Was the grain maintained on the home theater version(s) or was it purposely *cleaned up*…………regardless of any perceptible DNR artifacts.

This method allows for much more hands OFF encoding, and thus is far cheaper to encode since there's far less tweaking to be done. This was indeed one of the selling points of Blu.
Correct, if memory serves, cjplay made this encode nearly a short lifetime project (compared to other work).
Some short films have actually been completely shot in less time than it took him to encode that title.

More cryptic trivia.

Who preserved a film that had yet never been made in the first place?
And what film might that be?

At least Bob Harris should get this one, as I think during the prologue, the Director of said short film is mimicking Bob or Jim’s comments concerning the Vertigo restoration almost word for word………..in a benign tongue-in-cheek fashion.

Yes, IIRC he said it took over 200 hands-on hours to accomplish. This was at a time the A-man was running around twisting paidgeek's minimum statement (some MPEG-2 BD encodings taking as little as two days) into maximum Sony would allow.

I remember that, and there should be some accountability for that type of online behavior….at least for posterity’s sake.

For the record,
Amir stated on AVS that Sony Pictures has/had a 48 hr. or 72hr.? (can’t remember which) rule whereby technicians were required to finish all encodes.

Total unadulterated lie.

Yeah. Well, at least it wasn't as totally sleezy as the time he publically tried to goad paidgeek into violating the NDA agreement on discussing the VC-1 encoder. That was pure evil.

Speaking of the A-man, has he turned up anywhere lately, in the real world or virtual world?

Well heck, based on that SPE could start work on LoA by lunch time today (PDT) and you (must/will/have to/are required to) have it done by Friday or Monday then? Then a quick trip to a replicator and presto, should street in a few weeks, eh?

He was recently involved (last month) in a thread on AVSForum in which he claimed that lossless audio was a placebo.

System

As you can see, we have now implemented a system where by you can rate traders/sellers similar to that of eBay. Each forum member has a "Trading Score" that can easily been below their member name when they post. Clicking on that score will bring you to their Trading profile where you can view how other members rated them and submit a rating for a transaction you made with them.

After you have made a transaction, simply go to their Trading profile and click "Submit Feedback for [member name]." Here you can select whether you were the buyer, seller, or trader in the deal, grade the overall experience, give a short description of the transaction, and provide comments. If you would like, you can also provide a link to the thread of the transaction.

Unfortunately, we can no integrate the old Good Traders List into the new system, but you can go back through the old thread and add comments based on what you had posted.
