Hey guys, please no more posts in my thread about the recent fracas on the LOTR thread because my e-mail inbox is getting bombarded with “reported posts” mostly by other members that are tired of the situation.

My feelings are that even if somebody is *correct* about a topic and in their personal agenda to prove themselves *correct*…… they can easily run the risk of becoming very, very annoying, if they don’t know when to let it go.
Leave that behavior for other forums where the members enjoy spinning their wheels all day long in their quest for intellectual one-upmanship in making or proving a point.

I think a little perspective is needed because people generally don’t like other people that are overbearing whether online or in the real world and everyone (in the later situation) tends to walk away from their presence, if in the same room.
I’m just hoping that the SCEA Insider (who is supposed to be here by now) and the Fox Executive Insider (who has yet to post) didn’t read that thread because honestly if they had, they probably would have been so turned off with the tone that they could easily have come to the conclusion *Hey, I really don’t need this sh*t in my life, I deal with enough of it at work*.

Speaking of missing insiders...

Any chance you can tie Paidgeek to a chair and make him post a little here, or is he off on a covert op somewhere?

Give him one these:

It's very hard for me to understand why this is happening, I sometimes wonder how many folks who post to these fourm(s) ever actually watch movies, any movies? As a close friend once said, " What's the fracking point?"

Take care, and thanks, I needed to vent on this subject.

Exactly, people just need to let things go, this is not World War II, those discussions were a little out of hand, back and forth. But what are they trying to prove, that one of them has the bigger di%^. In the end it just hurts both parties.

I agree, leave this crap for *other* forums.

If you are from Geneva though, PM me as I can provide you contact info for someone in the industry that you may have an interesting dinner conversation with, if you don't already know him.(a CEO)

So we'll get to see yet another highly original Gil Cates telecast after all.

Penton,I just saw the trailer for LOA on HDNet Movies. Apparently the HD premiere will be on that channel. Will any future Blu-ray release feature that transfer or is a new one in the works?

yeah, and the trailer looked AWESOME. It exceeded CETK and it wasnt even in 1080p. LOA should be stellar.

Penton-Man do you think that the BDA could be signing some sort of contract with the DVD Forum? I was think of that A couple days that it could be plausible...an in the Mythbusters would say. If the DVD Forum does end up endorsing blu-ray...Then we can are selfs A Hoedown.

Hello Penton,

I am very happy that Warner is Blu-ray exclusive. I will be very happy when Paramount and Uni are Blu-ray exclusive too. I can’t wait until there is one single HD format.

I am wondering if you would let Warner know that it is unacceptable to release any movie on Blu-ray without including lossless audio. There are three new release movies that will be released soon with less than stellar specifications:

Jesse James
Michael Clayton
I am Legend

Jesse James and Michael Clayton will be released on BD-25 with Dolby Digital audio. It is being rumored that I am Legend with not include lossless audio as well.

Now, it's almost BBQ season again and I am hoping that during your next outing you will pass on the message that what was good enough for HD DVD is not acceptable for Blu-ray.

Before Warner went Blu exclusive I was buying their titles regardless of the specs for the sake of the format war. I just won’t do it anymore because I’ve invested a lot of money in equipment that takes advantage of lossless audio and frankly I am too spoiled by the offerings of Sony, Fox, Disney, and the titles that Warner gets right (The Departed, 300, Harry Potter 5, etc.).

Needless to say the above 3 titles were high on my list to purchase and are now on my Netflix list.

Thank you.

Hey i was wondering if we should be looking into the fact that all the new HD DVD ads aren't saying HD DVD like American Ganster but just showing it, kinda like what happened with Blades of Glory ad when they dropped Blu-Ray?

Hey Penton,

Didnt that marvelous HD-DVD superbowl ad terrify the BDA? Warner went back to HD-DVD, Disney and Fox went neutral. Oh god it was horrible.

Penton, please convince me that the BDA will be able to overcome this horrible tragedy. What will the BDA ever do?

Again, Penton your time is much appreciated here and its even MORE appreciated that you have gotten other insiders to participate.

Ghandi as their major catalogue title sounds depressing ...
Ghandi is OK, but far from a good film.

Actually I heard it wasn't national and only played in a few regional markets?
Plus, some say that it was in SD rather than HD.
I wouldn't know as I got up right after half time to drain the lizard so I'm not sure if I missed it altogether or if it just didn't air in my local.

Nevertheless, I don't think the BDA will need to overcome anything disturbing and just concentrate on taking Adriana Lima’s suggestion after the game.......

Yes, its true. I live in between the Houston-Austin area of Texas and the ad did not get shown ONCE. An American Gangster ad showed up after the Superbowl not even showing the HD-DVD version, but merely mentioning it in text.
