I have missed the post that started the discussion, so where is the discussion about screen shots coming from? I assume this has something to do with the *PIX* threads.

Do I have to spell it/him out for you? He's taken the road show onto AVS.

They tell me you're a computer dude.
Well, while he was here, this guy enjoyed using IPs/proxies from US, Finland, Germany and France, which is a bit strange and suspicious to me even before he was caught 'fudging the figures/pictures' so to speak.

How are those calibration discs selling so far?

Penton, I don't know if this has been discussed yet (I've been out of the loop a bit with fatherhood and work), but seeing Jurassic Park on tv on HD makes me wonder if its getting ready to come out on Blu-ray.

I remember when LoA was getting ready to come out, it was showing on tv first on HD. Thanks for the insight.

Any idea on Saving Private Ryan?

The WB announcement (not blu, but cool anyway)

http://www.wbshop.com/Warner-Archive...efault,sc.html

WB is opening up their entire library to on-demand DVD pressing, and they'll be adding titles all the time

Feel free to pass the info onto any other people 'that need to know' so I don't get bombarded with PM's from other mods here.

That's it for today folks.
I hope I'm beating Esox (with 1 s) out the office.
O, I am so terribly sorry, I did not see your post here.

Thank you for your invaluable assistance Penton. I replied immediately to your encouraging note (hopefully you had a chance to see it). I also received a reassuring note from the UK team.

Once again, thank you and have a greet week.

Man, if they could add Blu to this program, I'd worship at their feet!

With the amount of money needed to bring a catalog title to Blu-Ray in good to very good quality we are talking about a lot of units sold to break even whereas with the titles on display here they probably will be able to offer at least so-so quality DVDs without much additional expense as they are producing them from existing masters.

I would guess that they will first have a very good look at DVD numbers sold this way and if these numbers add up they may do a test run with a Blu-Ray or two IF they can produce the Blu-Rays in such a way that this concept of selling movies is compatible with.

I will, but then you'll have to spill the beans as to why there is a difference that is even visible down to the 'lowly' (by IMAX standards) Blu-Ray level

$20 for a barebones SD movie on DVD-R (let alone a $15 DRM'ed Windows Media file)? And then they say Blu-ray is overpriced.

At least the Val Lewton Horror Collection I bought for $22.99 had ten movies pressed on real DVD.

I think with this we can say bye-bye to any further WB catalogs on DVD. Thank God Hamlet and O Lucky Man! finally saw a DVD release in 2007.

But tough luck for a friend of mine who's still waiting for a disc release of Lili.

Oh, I know it's totally unrealistic. I'm just enjoying a little fantasy.

Actually I was fairly impressed with the print-on-demand disc Dr. Horrible was on. It doesn't even look like a DVD-R

There isn't any print on demand tech for Blu-ray yet, and I expect it's years away

What about BD-9? You could easily put a B&W 1.33:1 movie in 720p VC-1 with a mono Dolby track (which is what most old movies would require) on 9 GBs.

720p? What are you trying to do to us?!

Surely any transfers they have which are HD at all are at least 1080i.

Only if some Blu-ray bashers who enjoy portraying themselves as some sort of technical experts in the industry, post yet another inaccurate online fake science theory as *fact*………like with the recent trailer talk comparison nonsense, which prompted my past response a couple days ago -

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=8030

I'm here to fight for truth, and justice, and the Blu-ray way.

P.S.
Quick, anyone, before sharkshark (the movie/TV quote guru) checks in today–how did Louis Lane respond to the above (in bold), if one substitutes the word *science* for ‘country’.

I haven't seen it but, the way you put it, I may not have to brown bag it tomorrow.

Later.

Yeah, I was just crackin' wise about the President's 'necessary resolution' figure.
