PM, can people NOW start talking about the red studios plans? Or are they going to continue to sit in a dark room and hope they sell old software before everyone figuresout not to buy into HD-DVD.

Get out!!

November 28th, 1980 - September 3rd, 1993.

Although many of my friends are still there, not too many are still involved in the diving business. It sure is one of the most beautiful places though for diving. It's quite something to be on the North Wall where 150ft drops off into nothing but deep blue. (I think it's straight down to beyond 2,000ft right there)

Did you get to play with the stingrays?

Are you really trying to get me into trouble with colleagues at other studios?
Ask Bill Hunt that question.......see if he will bite.

Little Cayman (IMHO) actually has a nicer drop-off….. maybe just because there are less divers and it felt more *special* in that way.
And speaking of the Caymans, I believe there is a hot Victoria’s Secret model from there.

Later folks, it's an early lunch for me today.

With retail goes the movies

If they don't carry them, people can't buy them

How soon you forget this Penton-endorsed column that turned out to be quite prophetic from Bill's site

My comment did not come out the right way. Im actually glad they are turning blu, it will steer the studios.

I'm just hoping those two will say something soon. I dont require an announcement saying "we'll begin releasing BD's in 14 days", I just would like to know the broad idea of the plan for release.

I mean even the HD-DVD guys are gonna quit buying now, do the studios really think their announcements are going to hurt the software sales anymore than the retailers have?

PM,

I hope that as we continue the war against DVD, you'll continue to visit this website and you'll keep us posted with news and tidbits like you've done so far until today.

Thanks!

Her bio is quite funny, it suggests that she often would have to go to school with no shoes on.

Well, being barefoot is definitely part of life for locals, myself included. I used to wear shoes once a week when I would DJ. I had such strong callouses on my feet that I would be able to win a beer off tourists at the bar (Lone Star on West Bay Road normally) by betting them a beer I could hold a bic lighten on my heel for five full seconds. Anyway I digress, Cayman is not poor and anyone that wants shoes gets shoes. It's a very religious island and growing up no doubt Selita went to church on a Sunday.

She grew up in "a little blue, zinc-roof shack on Walkers Road". Well in Cayman back in the 80's, the houses on stilts with zinc-roofs generally also had a satellite dish in the back yard. No poverty down there.

The runway in Little Cayman used to be a grass runway. Sometimes when the mower was broken flights would be postponed until they got parts. Although it's only 5 miles from the Brac so it's hardly a long trip by boat.

When we first moved to Cayman there were only 28 people in Little Cayman, 2,000 people in the Brac and 16,000 people on Grand. Times sure have changed. I remember the first traffic lights getting put in by Hog Sty Bay! They had to talk about them on the radio and in the Compass so that people would know what to do at them.

Ha, ha.

Sounds about right. If you are a studio considering releasing in HD you now have two choices:

1) Release on Blu-ray Disc

2) Stick with SD DVD

There is no third way.

You are correct Wicky.
It is one of the few (perhaps only 1-2 ?) online editorials that I have ever endorsed to this forum.

And it is definitely the only article that I ever recommended..... "Read it………everyone" with bolded letters.
