Penton-Man, any comments on the following news about the Shield, a property controlled by Sony?
http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/news/Shi...e-Series/12589 It is disappointing that this excellent show will not see a Blu-ray release. |

I'm not a "fan" of "The Shield", but I was VERY interested in the reasons behind it's lack of release. ~Alan |

"our mediocre penny pinching post production pipeline made the film look bad and further, we are not about to spend the dough to re-transfer it" Take a look at THE HURT LOCKER in a theatre with great projection. It was shot Super 16 and looks excellent . . . and not just "excellent for Super 16" but just plain excellent. Wonder is the Powers That Be at Sony have seen THE HURT LOCKER??? I will bet [ medium ] money that if THE SHIELD were re-transferred it would look quite good on Blu Ray. -30- Captain Celluloid ------------------- Film Guy Using Digital Post Film Is Not Dead -- it is the GOLD STANDARD to which all other formats are compared. "Scrubs" Season Eight was aired in HD on ABC and looked great. "Burn Notice" doesn't look very good on USA HD, but looked very good on Blu-ray. I'm just curious if people who expect every thing to look like a sporting event has quashed Sony's desire to release a 16mm TV show, or if it's just an excuse given TV on Blu-ray sales right now. ~Alan |

Oh yeah, I noticed for the first time that two upcoming Sony catalog titles have $24.95 MSRPs. That's cheaper than Universal's new $26.95 catalog MSRPs.
AWESOME!! ![]() Will Sony lower the MSRPs on their current catalog releases soon? ~Alan Last edited by Alan Gordon; 08-31-2009 at 09:27 PM. Reason: Added the comment about Universal... |

Depends on your taste.
I was referring to "Night Of The Creeps" and "Godzilla". I've never seen "Night Of The Creeps" (any good?), and I'm one of the few people who actually liked "Godzilla", but I'm aware many people would say no to the second one. "Wolf" and "Mary Shelley's Frankenstein" are both priced at $24.95 too, but I haven't seen them either. ~Alan |

Then, when the material makes its way through DI, they all freak because the final grading ends up making the film look as though it’s in some weird color space (compared to the dailies) and it takes a ‘strong-minded’ Director and D.P. to see the process thru to the end despite all the yelping from the peanut gallery (see above)….constantly reminding them that dailies are just dailies. |

Also, while "The Incredibles" was great, it (like "Heroes") used powers/plots from many sources from both Marvel and DC... not to mention that Marvel and DC have both done stories using plots from "The Incredibles" (and "Heroes"). Interestingly enough, Boom! Studios recently came out with a limited series about "The Incredibles". ~Alan |

![]() Well Gee, “Captain Celluoid”, I kinda think we have, if I was able to mention this bit about the slo-mo stuff captured on HD ![]() https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=9941 In fact, to show you how attuned we are to 16mm, off the top of my head, I’m pretty sure that I can name close to 20 television shows that are currently being shot in 16 mm. (if they haven’t been canceled). Wonder if the Powers That Be at *screenshot science* can do the same without researching it for several days? And don’t bother running to imdb, as that info often lags. |
