As far as it being the next BIG thing, I don’t know……..nobody knows for sure.
But, you would be a fool (I’m talking camera manufactures, post production facilities, content providers, consumer electronics companies, etc.) not to get ahead of the curve on this, if only purely from a business standpoint because it appears to have substantial potential….. if it is done well. According to one recent survey, 50% of consumers want 3D in the home and are willing to fork out the cash for glasses.

And, I can tell you for a fact, that filmmakers are overwhelmingly interested in it as a new artistic tool because numerous requests from around the world have been coming in to attend the 3D cinematography workshops at Sony Pictures Studios’ newly opened 3D Technology Center. Not to mention, directors, game developers, live event crews and others who are directly involved in producing 3D content. There really aren’t enough instructors to accommodate all the requests as quickly as people interested in doing 3D would like.

So, there is already a lot of grassroots interest and investment at many different types of professional disciplines.

I “believe” broadcasters(and game platforms) will drive the new dimension forward with 3D packaged media being a strong supplement.

And if you want to tip your toe into consumer level 3D filmmaking, here you go, as CP-20’s have been shipping out for awhile………http://www.3d-one.com/
thanks for the info penten

im scared of all this change

I agree, and to add further:

There is a lot of consumer electronics potential in 3D aside from the very conventional prism of 2 hour long movies.

If 3D is delivered right, I think it will be a far more important thing in video gaming. Consider the advances Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo are working on with motion tracking technology and combine that with 3D visualization: BINGO! Some actual "virtual reality" placed into the living room at an affordable price.

I think there is a good chance 3D will be incorporated into one-piece "point and shoot" digital cameras. Imagine using a twin-lens PAS camera to shoot snap shots on your trip to 'Vegas, Cancun, Florida, Cedar Point, etc. The family slide show might be more interesting if the viewers are looking at it in 3D.

Of course, I shudder to think what this could cost people like me who shell out whatever we can afford for DSLR gear. Canon and Nikon might be salivating over the idea of selling people double the number of camera lenses for their "3DSLR" setups.

No, nothing specifically about WB........something else regarding the 'usual suspects' causing all the trouble for everyone.

It still doesn't absolve WB for selectively tampering with Ken Brown's review visa-vee punishing him (and Blu-ray.com) for the faults of others.

Look, I’m busy.

I noticed in his review that Martin L. posted SCREENSHOTS of The Natural. I’m going to check other forums on the internet where the ‘usual suspects’ hang out to see if they’re bashing SPHE and then sending their little lap dogs over here to create trouble…. and if they are……….I’m going to ask Blu-ray.com to remove those screenshots!

Even If they aren’t bashing SPHE per se and just bashing the picture quality of the Blu-ray…….I’m still going to ask Blu-ray.com to remove those screenshots with the excuse that the decision is being driven by legal in terms of ‘creative/talent approval of images’…….as the talent only cares about what is written and presented on Blu-ray.com and no other forum/website on the internet.

I figured you would know this ‘Mos Eisley’ character, given your background but, on a more pleasant note , do you honestly know who ‘Mo Henry’ is without Googling the name?

For those that don’t, there's a bio somewhere on the page –
http://www.amianet.org/events/theree.../speakers.html

And here’s a nice read (forgive the format) for you folks who would like to learn a little bit about negative cutters these days-

http://webcache.googleusercontent.co...&ct=clnk&gl=us
(click on the html version at the top of the page as it's easier to read).

Mos Eisley is a city

And yes I do know who Mo Henry is (without clicky linky). You forget how many more people I know in the back end of things than anything else (though not her personally, but I'd love to meet her someday). Many of my friends have worked on a bunch of the stuff she's cut over the years.

Don't know if you're privy to this info Penton but do you know any details about the production of the Saving Private Ryan or War of the Worlds BDs? With all the effort that went into Minority Report, I'm wondering what kind of effort went into these other BDs. There seems to be plenty of info on MR, but not much in the way of the others and SPR is a pretty high profile title!

Yo, Towel Boy,
[Show spoiler] Man, I was dying to say that

Please tell me that The Road is being handled by the very best, super film loving team possible. Is there any technical information that you can share about the movies move to Blu-ray disc?

Squid, did you see it yet? Don't get so excited...

Penton, tsk, tsk... I can't believe while you were riding all those bikes and soccer-ing, that you didn't spend your youth concerned about visiting Mos Eisley (let alone Anchorhead).

But I digress.

Meanwhile, forgive the spoiler if it's on your PVR,
[Show spoiler]but let's weep a bit for our arses. Wait, that sounds wrong... You know what I mean.

As the first real match I watched in forever, it was so, so depressing...Seems we -do- need our top players (go figure).

I want to punch that 22 year old prick in the face, but at least he's less of a whiny git than Ronaldo. Sunofabeach's going to get a Word Cup, isn't he?

Sigh....

[Show spoiler] you mean because 5 starters could not play in the match today? I'm making no excuses, Barca were the superior team and Messi proved again he is world class...doesn't make it any easier to accept

To post on subject..... the Natural arrived today, can't wait to tear into it this weekend!

Yeah, and the look of it especially... It's super well made, but is unlikely going to rock your world... it looks like ass, like it's supposed to.

The film is also a bit of a mess, clearly struggling to live up to the allegorical complexity of the original novel (one that I've not read).

It's worth seeing, but given what Joel and Ethan managed to do with No Country it's a shame...

This is my point. I dont want to see it get all "pretty'd up".
