The Untitled Spider-Man Reboot is filming at Sony Studios in Culver City. FYI: They are filming under the name “Fiona’s Tale”. |

Hrm... Sounds like a Spiderman taunt to me, if I had to guess. Sorta like Blue Harvest, but not really... Saw LOA in 70mm tonight (with DennisM in attendance) - warm, fuzzy feelings seeing RAH's name in the restoration credits. ![]() ps. Serves me right for replying to you first - I see my assumption was correct (no Binging involved ![]() |

3D is rather a diversified thing (not to mention some potential exciting medical and military applications which are beyond the scope of this discussion) and some people lose sight of the fact that the initial primary drivers for 3D are still believed to be sports and gaming. Blu-ray doesn’t need 3D and conversely, 3D doesn’t need Blu-ray, for that matter. Speaking of 3D sports ![]() Speaking of 3D filmmaking ![]() Which Director will be next? |

![]() Planned release date in the U.S….July 3, 2012. One point being, from the time of pre-production to the end of post production, it usually takes a long time to make a major feature film…whether it be in 2D or especially 3D, a notion which some folks unfamiliar with the business often fail to realize or appreciate. |

Shark, it seems you’re a cinema-going machine lately. Heck, if you can’t do a dive trip maybe you should continue the exercise and head on down to Sundance in Park City in a couple of weeks...if only to compare it with TIFF. I would recommend the great local mountain bike trails but I fear everything is a bit snowed over. Hey, for future reference, what size T-shirt and/or knock-around jacket do you wear…Medium?...Large? RAH, if you’re reading….Best Wishes and Happy New Year. ![]() |

XL, thanks for askin' ![]() Yeah, I'm really torn about Sundance, just not sure I'd make a good go of it, there's more crap than not there. Frankly, getting back to Cannes is a bigger dream, but that's even more of a nutbar proposition (I attended '96). Still, one day I've got to attend, you're correct. |

ps. Not sure I mentioned, I saw PLAYTIME in 70mm a week or so ago - what a wacky film, print looked fantastic. Insane little comedy, completely unique voice.
In connection with that, if you lot haven't yet seen THE ILLUSIONIST (the animated film based on the Tati script, not the live action from a couple years ago) you owe it to yourselves to do so, a remarkable bit of animated wonder. Finally, also got to wander around the Tim Burton exhibit at Lightbox - they've brought over the same thing they had at MOMA, with all kinds of drawings and maquettes from his career. |

Speaking of which, for 2D movie enthusiasts, a classic that should eventually make an appearance on 2D Blu-ray vis-à-vis my colleagues over at the mouse house, namely, the 1954 version, i.e. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0046672/ has the following restoration papers –
Northlight 4k scans of the original Cinemascope negative and YCM masters. |

Shark, last year, I know you enjoyed the live access to the Sony CES Press Conference, so for your pleasure and to those who may also show some interest - catch the event live again this year, at this link tomorrow evening…
http://www.ustream.tv/sonyelectronics I’m off to the show. DenonCI, wish me luck at the blackjack table…I can’t count cards but, I do know what is the purely mathematically correct play to make in every single situation based on what I’ve been dealt (split cards, double down, etc.) and what the croupier has showing, not considering what’s left in the shoe of course, since I can’t count cards anyway. I am a good tipper so, they likes me. ![]() |

![]() Speaking of Disney, over Christmas vacation I took my family to the Disney Museum (http://disney.go.com/disneyatoz/fami...ion_hours.html) and it was an awesome experience. If anyone visits San Francisco, be sure to put it on your itinerary. Also, if you visit the museum, walk south about 2 blocks or so and you'll find Lucasfilm in a nondescript building. I had the pleasure of visiting that facility in October and just the lobby alone is worth a peek. (Excuse the blurriness of the picture...my son took it and he's learning to use a camera properly) Last edited by DenonCI; 01-05-2011 at 12:11 AM. |

by this time tomorrow there will be kvetching about Star Wars on BD, I predict.
Have fun in Vegas - try the Tartare at Mesa Grill, if you'd like. Carnevino has the best Carpaccio I've ever had, if you're over by Venetian. |

the consumer 3D handicam with glassesless screen looks to be a hit... Decent presentation of some nice toys. I can't help but notice that they're pimping GREEN HORNET a bit...

I think it was sorely needed to capture those personal 3D sentimental family moments in a medium which is as close to real-life as possible before they became just memories or 2D camcorder capture limited by lack of depth. |

I think, for the most part, everything well at the press event. One thing which I would have liked Sir Howard to mention (at least to remind *3D dooms-dayers*) is that internal figures have shown that despite the difficult worldwide economic conditions in most territories, year one adoption of 3DTVs outpaced sales of 2D HD tv set sales for the first year in which they were available (2003).
A finding also confirmed by the outside market analysis firm Futuresource Consulting (see their Nov. 2010 report on their website)…. http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/...ls-hd-adopters |
