Yeah that's it mike, it's all about cutting out the middle man and piping it directly to the TV or an STB.

Maybe it was just a "one off," but I saw that film at a Dolby Cinema in Dallas and it was nothing to write home about in terms of HDR presentation or Atmos audio experience (and I have Atmos at home and it can be stunning given the right 3D mix).

Don't get me wrong, it was a big screen (compared to most multiplexes in Ditch Water, USA), but nothing stood out as outstanding. A lot of wasted opportunities IMHO.

They will probably announce players at CES 2016.

I am waiting for a company to claim that it can deliver 8K at 1 Mbps.

I'm confused. We have confirmation that the Salt and ASM2 UHD BDs will not be properly sourced from original elements and thereby won't be truly 4k?

Then, again, I don't understand your "Or I just want 4k versions of Salt and ASM2 (depending in how the HDR ****s them up)" remark. Or is your point that you are presuming they will be mucked up by HDR?

Some of the blu-rays in your collections could have come from masters sent to the replication facility via the internet, according to Sony.

"Delivering the Master:

The first thing that you must address is getting the BDMCF image to the replication facility. For some, this will be done by Electronic File Transfer (EFT) on a high-speed network. In reality, although this method is fast and reliable, it is generally cost prohibitive to obtain the bandwidth required to efficiently transfer 25GB and 50GB images. Therefore, the majority of non-Hollywood titles will need to be delivered on some type of physical media

*le sigh* Okay, how about "IF IT GETS SQUIRTED THROUGH THE INTERNET TO A CUSTOMER'S HOME then I class it all as the same thing"?

Besides, the above is still talking about masters intended for optical disc, not the bitrate-shaved deliverables which are being piped into people's homes.

well then, the 2016 HDR Ultra-HD Blu-ray of The Martian hopefully will remedy that theatrical experience for you.

Nope, filmed in 3d = buy in 3d

I don't want it in UHD and 100% don't want it in HDR

I'm not talking about the VUDU HDX or even the FMP=X10 downloads from Sony. I'm talking about the bit for bit files from the Kaleidescape store. They are the only vendor doing this now, but expect quality competition from others if Kaleidescape streets an under $1000 solution in 2016. Research Kaleidescape if you are interested in this.

I don't own the system, but another member, Mr. Poindexter does. I asked him to comment.
