I just found out about the HDFury. In theory could I connect a UHD player (via HDFURY) and benefit for the expanded color gamut and high bit rate on my Sony KDL 55W900a? And let the player down covert to 1080p? I also have a Sony 1040 receiver thats not HDCP 2.2 compliant. The W900a is a Quantum Dot TV that covers 94% of P3. Except I think its only HDMI 1.4a or at best 2.0 via firmware. Just wondering if the Sony TV can read some of the metadata from UHD BD discs. We don't know if the UHD players will down convert 4K to 1080p.

But without a means of telling the TV to actually *use* the P3 gamut (the only options are 601 and 709) all that coverage will be as good as useless, I'm in much the same position with my own Sony set.

Heh. Without all that extra jazz it's gotten me wondering what even a downscaled 1080p output from UHD (then upscaled back up by the 4K TV) will look like vs the actual 2160p output. I'm guessing that there won't be much in it...

Not all are created equal, let's not pretend BD is the cornerstone of originality.
But look at Sicario, timed by Deakins and in the original Atmos.

Haha, true enough. But soon you'll be able to experience Lawrence of Arabia in the way David Lean always meant it to be seen: HDR with Atmos.

I would get Edge of Tomorrow just for the Atmos soundtrack that wasn't included on the Blu-ray. I got to hear it via VUDU UHD, and it is absolutely incredible. That alone would warrant the double dip for me.
