On another industry Insider note, I’m extending a formal invitation to “ender21”, if he’s reading, to join us here at Blu-ray.com to answer any current questions concerning the restoration as well as the Blu-ray production of Baraka, or any upcoming FotoKem restorations such as A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World (how apropos in this case) because on Blu-ray.com I’m certain his accurate inside knowledge and hands-on experience will be appreciated, unlike at a *science* forum from which ender21’s post was forwarded to me from one of those *PIX* threads, as apparently the original Baraka bashing thread has been locked…………………….

![]() So, check in here sometime “ender21”……….the more the merrier ![]() P.S. Hey RAH, given your review here……….. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htf/...a-blu-ray.html It would appear that you also don’t know what the hell you’re talking about in regards to evaluating picture quality of a Blu-ray movie. ![]() lol, at least they’re not bashing the color on this Blu-ray title. ![]() |

The word “Blu-ray Disc,” “BLU-RAY DISC,” “Blu-ray” or “BLU-RAY” must be separated from other words or trademarks at least with a space. You may need to incorporate the “TM” symbol after the Blu-ray term, ex. “BLU-RAY™.” I'm pretty sure the BDA would frown on the Blu-ray logo being incorporated within verbiage of a new tag line. Style guides mandate white space around the logo at least 25% of the logo's total height. Usually the logo is an element that stands on its own and not part of a larger phrase or tag line. |

Just got back from Quantum of Solace. I'm sure I'll echo comments others have said in various places. The "herky jerky" camera crap has got to stop. You can't tell what is going on during the action in this movie. Why do filmmakers do this if we can't tell what's happening on screen? You're telling a story using visuals. Wouldn't you want your audience to see what you created? I liked the film much better when there wasn't a chase going on.

Generally, I think it was a clever idea NOT to use anything "HD" related in the Blu-ray brand name. My feeling is high definition is going to become ubiquitous pretty quickly. Once high definition is very common it won't really be high definition anymore. It will just be the new standard of standard definition. The "HD" term won't carry much pizazz after awhile -just like the term "digital" isn't all that impressive anymore either. True Ferrari Red is a very specific (and expensive) paint mixture. A long time ago I heard real gold was used as one ingredient in the mix. The official Blue color for Blu-ray is Pantone 2925C. For four color process printing, use 84% cyan and 21% magenta. |

You can use the term "Blu-ray TM" w/o a license agreement per the BDA. The logo is another matter and I believe I am finally finished with that process. The main goal was being able to use the Blu-ray Disc logo on the packaging. I am curious how many use it without actually getting approval. Either the list of licensee's on the website is not up to date or...
I had not been following the Baraka Pix thread. I have not seen that much emotion since the format war. You would it was the worst looking disc every created based on the comments. Now, if they were talking about the packaging, I would understand. ![]() If I had say anything negative about Baraka, I would say it makes anything you watch after it look like SD. Always demo this title last! I can only image the negative comments if I were to use "blue" in a title. Last edited by Stacey Spears; 11-15-2008 at 06:02 PM. |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...NG#post1294355 would have totally freaked due to the commensurate lack of grain magnification as compared to scanning that 65mm film at 8k. And with regards to the issue of EE, apparently they don’t care to believe “ender 21” (who worked on the restoration) or what I posted here even several days before he chimed in……….. https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ld#post1292168 Honestly, every time I’m compelled to read some PM that somebody sends me which includes a link to a post from an artifact hunter on one of those *PIX* threads….. if I can’t laugh it off immediately, I come out feeling like this after reading it……………. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i__Xh...eature=related |

Stacey, I haven’t forgotten about your PM, it’s just that I was out of the office all day on Friday due to a Press event and now due to a local fire in SoCal, we’re having some unexpected guests stay over whom have been evacuated from their neighborhood.
I may even have to take off a couple days from work next week to help them out, so please be patient. I’ll do what I can. |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=5846 The raw 4k images were converted to TIFF files and some of these (at least of a portion of the frame) was magnified to be used as part of the picture on billboards in various parts of the world for advertising the product with David Beckham as the face man. Despite the fact that the blown-up images on the billboards looked soft compared to the 4k TIFFs, they looked pretty dang good from a distance……..considering. Oh, by the way, the billboard poster benefit was not the reason why the Dalsa 4k Origin was chosen for the shoot. |

![]() Saw the fire this past night going to see Quantum of Solace. Looks like firefighters are getting a bead on the Sylmar fire, but the Yorba Linda one is the one to worry about now. Who would have thought this late in November? Last edited by PeterTHX; 11-16-2008 at 08:11 AM. |
