Would it ever be possible to get any sort of rountable discussion from some directors with Blu-ray as the subject? I would love to see Spielberg, Cameron, Scorsese, Fincher, and a few others discussing the format and what they think of it. I know, it'll never happen, but that would be fun to watch. I'm guessing scheduling conflicts, among other things, would be in the way. I think if they got a few of them together, they could actually sell it as a sort of BD for dummies presentation. Clearly pointing out to everyone why BD is the way to go.

ah well....

I disagree. That guy was belligerent to the nth degree. Baiting and caustic. It must take tremendous self control to not smack a guy like that. Perhaps thats what he was hoping for.

Penton,

With GoNY I presume the master they used was the culprit because it looked equally bad on DVD.

Yeah, I haven't read the book, but I just found that the narative didn't work translated to film... I mean, you can only go so far to make a kid look near death, and a truly dying world... In a book, you can just say "the world is dying", and not need to actually go to the woods and shoot it.

I’m more concerned that you clutter this thread with unoriginal “news”. No disrespect to RAH, but check the time and date of Jeff’s post on the matter -

and compare with that from HTF to which you linked.
I mean for cripes sakes, believe me, Jeff and Bill bug the hell out of the people from the Mouse House regularly for info/tidbits.
Plus, for that matter, he bugs me too.
Do you know how many times he 'encouraged' me concerning Breaking Bad?

Nope, not so dramatic as that.
“Artificial sharpening” is actually used quite frequently in things like public service announcements where it works particularly well for 30 sec. time slots.

I also get the impression from ‘videophiles’, since it is a quote….‘artificial’….unquote technique, it must be BAD.
Well, I guess that would make diffusion filters, push processing, “unnatural” colors used in color grading and for that matter, breast implants BAD too.
Really, it’s just a tool like anything else. Too much is where you get into trouble.

Try again.

I just went to the HTF and posted a URL in the "test" section to link to this post here and it worked.

Never had a problem at HTF linking to Blu-ray.com, but you realize you do have to be "logged in" to post there. AVS is a different story. Haven't been able to create a link to Blu-ray.com or HTF in over a year.

Paul, I’m not even saying it is a software issue, per se.
I’m saying that many times when you read these forum fanboys write “I heard”, it really means I red it on the Insider subforum of Blu-ray.com but, I decline to credit the source because I don't want my audience here to leave me and go there.

Hey, it's only been a couple of times, unless you're counting the back and forths

For the record, I have very few titles I have ever nagged on. Warning Sign was one of them, took me 4-5 years to get it, but I got it . There was a whole slew of TV titles I wanted, but instead of just nagging for them, I talked to a likely licensee, and did a bunch of research that helped the titles get released.

I do think BB will do quite well. It looks great in HD, all contrasty and bright. It's a great show with an edge and they have a lot of Emmy ribbons to hang around the box Did you watch it yet Penton, or are you waiting for Blu?

Now that we have BB, we can start on Odyssey 5, complete this time with beating the ending of the series out of Manny Coto. No more of this "I'll tell you what would happen in season 2,3,4, but I'm taking 5 to my grave crap) (No, before anyone joins in, I SERIOUSLY doubt it will ever happen. By the time the DVDs came out most people had forgotten it and it didn't sell well). While I'm at it, Real Genius, complete with extra features (deleted scenes!) and a cover that the cat will sleep in the same room with

What's sad is I don't think I've taken a vacation that lacked some kind of work event in over a decade. Honestly I don't even know if I'm even capable of enjoying a pure fun vacation anymore. It's often fun work, but work nonetheless

Dude.
You’ve got to take a real vacation. Thee premier studio Industry Event is rapidly approaching in Las Vegas. Everyone on the audio video forums is talking about it, speculating about it, wishing they were going to it.
You know what I’m talking about……get your butt on a plane and come to Vegas

It’s Sexy.
It’s powerful.
It’s Business.
