De Palma has said he made this comic take on "Rear Window" in frustration, to show those who complained he only cared about sex and violence what a movie would look like if that were true. Set in the worlds of shlocky horror and porn, the surprisingly elegant result features Melanie Griffith's most assured performance as a XXX star who defies our expectations. The movie is soon to be rereleased as a deluxe Blu-ray by the Criterion Channel.

Correct. But Criterion has a good relationship with Brian De Palma and the film hasn't had a semi-decent release since the Twilight Time release.

We shall find out if the reporter knows what they are talking about or if this goes into the file of other movies on the channel or Filmstruck that people assume are coming to Criterion.

The Criterion Channel doesn’t release Blu rays. The Criterion Collection does.

It’s been on the Channel for the last month and a half, though.

The Indicator release was excellent! It had everything the Twilight Time release had, plus new extras. Also it had a new 4K restoration supervised by Grover Crisp. So not sure what you are talking about. I would call it beyond decent.

besides if they meant Criterion channel and the previous blu-ray releases...if Criterion were to release this on DISC it needs to be as a 4K/BLU combo.

The majority of everyone has a blu of this or even 2! so 4K would be my buying point.

An available domestic release you could buy in stores would be good. Even better if they could do a 4K release, but apparently Sony isn't licensing out their films for UHD yet.

I finally saw it for the first time earlier this year and it was really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really, really good.

Even if the info in that article is inaccurate, I think a UHD of Body Double is inevitable. The existing scan is already a 4K one, so provided it ain't too ancient, they can perform a HDR pass and call it a day.

That would guarantee buys from people who have the Indicator, so it might be in Criterion's best interest to do that instead of a 1080 Blu ray. The indicator is in my wishlist, now I have to wait and see if a 4K really is coming.

Btw, Criterion Channel already showed this film several times in the last 2 or 3 years.
