I lend them out, but only 1 at a time. I first started with The Golden Compass to one person at work, and then, two other people.

Then I started thinking.... Why not charge $3 for them to have it for a max of a week?

Been doing that since November. It's half the price of the BlockBuster, and it helps me buy more movies. The people at work know that I've invested a lot of money into my Movie collection and they know not to !@#$ with me, lol.

Of course, when it comes to loaning out SteelBooks, i put the Blu-Ray discs into spare blu-ray cases :P

Of course, I lend out my blu-rays to my friends. I know which ones are trustworthy and responsible enough to take care of the items I lend out. In return, they lend me their BDs.

Now, if its a steelbook, well, thats different story....

It is a case by case senario for me. There are a few friends i can loan to, and many others which i can not.

I would only let my Blu-ray movies to my parents and my brother, other than that I tell them to sign-up for a Netflix account.

never ever will. DVDs are fine, but in my experience, any DVDs I've lent to someone have been returned years later -might as well have re-bought them or given them away!

Blu-ray for me is too close to the ideal format, and if I have my favourite film in that format, and I'm happy with it - no one else is getting it!

i try not to but if they ask its hard to say no
especially to my close friend
but only one has a ps3 out of all of them so its not that bad

but the good thing is i have a program in my phone and i can put in any movie and put who has it and for how long and it gives me reminders every so often to remind me who has it

Never in a million, billion, bugillion years.

You hae to be sleeping with me long term and in an official capacity in order to borrow anything.

I have a few good friends who have PS3s, and I'm pretty much the only one who actively purchases films. I do let them borrow 1-2 at a time, and I make sure to write down what's being checked out. We're all adults in our late 30's, so they treat them with care.

My only rules for them are to make sure they make it back into the case right after viewing, and to not loan them out to anyone else. So far, it's worked fine, and I like seeing them develop a stronger interest in both films and home theater.

I guess I'm a bit of an enabler that way.

I don't often but when I do I keep a record of it on my computer of what movie they took, when they took it, what was their reason behind borrowing it, when they plan on returning it and lastly when they actually did return it. I feel like a dick when I do it but it's only way I can be 100% sure I don't forget they have it or returned it.

Same here brother!

I used to lend DVD's to two of my adult sons who lived with my wife and I for a while. Whenever they'd borrow a disc, I either never saw it again, or if I did it would return to me scratched and fingerprinted all to hell. And there were the times they'd "borrow" a disc without bothering to ask. I'd find out and ask them to return it but more often times than not, they never did. One day I found out one of 'em took a disc from my collection and promptly loaned it to one of their friends. Their "friend" brings the disc to my house a year later and gives it to me, saying "I think this belongs to you". I didn't even know the disc was missing from my collection. The same day I purchased DVD tracking software and a DVD case with a locking mechanism to protect my collection (or what was left of it). That worked for a while until one of 'em broke the lock and door on the case attempting to "borrow" again without asking. My wife and I finally solved the problem by kicking both sons out of the house. They now live on their own each on opposite coasts.

Now that I'm into blu, I only loan discs to my brother in law and no one else. He introduced me to the format. He's just as anal as I am, he returns what he borrows within a day or two, and the disc and case returns in the same pristine condition it was lent.

And will foreclose in a minute

I really try and avoid lending my blu's and have a very, very, small circle who I let borrow discs.

But I did put family and friends on the receiving end when I decide to dump old equipment/movies.

My mother-in-law was absolutely thrilled when I set her up with an old Sony 53" analog bigscreen, old Sony DVD player, and some old movies that came in snapper cases. Now it's nothing but compliments and praise

I only have one friend that has a Blu-ray player and we trade back-and-forth all the time. He knows how I treat my stuff and I know haw he treats his and we're both very careful and quick to return. Unlike what the "Pretenders" may say, I would even trust him with my television over night!
