2 words. Hell NO. I used to lend so many of my DVDs out to buddies/family and it always took over a month to get them back and they NEVER came back in the same condition as when I lent it to them. Before I would give the DVD to whoever was borrowing it, I would use my VenMill VMI 3500 Buffer (I used to own a rental shop and we did repairs) to get out any scratches. This machine cost $2000.00 so yeah, it worked great....and like I said, they would always come back scratched.

Once and never again. I let my friend from work, who is a HT enthusiast, borrow my Planet Earth around the first of the year. I literally just got it back last week after constantly harassing him. I didn't expect him to watch the whole thing and neither did he, he just wanted to see how the PQ looked on his set. However, it sat in his collection for months and I'd ask him a few times a week if he checked it out yet, which he didn't.

Anyway, now he wants to borrow more and I'm not going for it.

yes i do loan it to my friends
because in my group
we bought the bluray as a share
like 15movies releases in a month 3 of 'em will buy 5 blurays each and share them
we all know the awareness of the useage, investment, and do takecare of the bluray as their own bluray taken care off

Only to my friends with PS3s. They are very careful with them. They also let me borrow theirs. Don't know anyone with just a blu ray player.

I let 3 or 4 co-workers borrow movies from me. I don't mind at all.

I have a co-worker who borrowed some of my BD. I just give him a blank blu-ray case that's torn or damaged and keep my original case and artwork with my collection. No problems at all to lend to a friend.

I don't loan BDs to my friends because they're all still in the Dark Ages and don't own BD players....

LOL, I hear ya!

If I lend out Blu-rays, it would only be to my closest friends, since I only trust them as they take just as good care of stuff as I do. And should a mishap happen, they buy a new one for me (once, a comic I lent to a friend got a torn cover by accident and he bought a brand new issue for me).

Unfortunately, all my closest friends are still in the DVD-era so as a result, I don't lend Blu-rays to anyone (until one of them decides to upgrade).

Let me just say that this thread is hilarious.

I'm surprised (and relieved ) that so many others don't let friends borrow their Blus. I haven't come across the opportunity to lend one out yet because I am the only Blu guy in my circle of friends and family. I don't even know anyone else who owns a Blu-ray player, except for one friend who has a PS3. Not even the owner (my cousin through marriage) of my our local TV store owns one, and I bought all my gear through him! Although, actually, I bought my BDP-S550 through Amazon.

Beta Man hit the nail on the head in page one, though: you really should lend them out; that's what friends are for.

I tend to lend only to my friends who know as much about movies as me as they take great care of them. plus the few people I do allow to borrow stuff also let me borrow stuff so it's almost like collateral. but if there is the slightest chance I think they might mess up the disc I won't let them.

I would only lend my collection within my family because I know they take good care of stuff and because we are repsectful of one another. Cousins and friends are a different story because frankly I don't trust them enough to lend out my costly movies. I also don't like lowning to friends and cousins because sometimes they have the tendency to be free loaders.

I let me cousin who I live with use my blurays for downstairs on his tv. Even then I'm picky on him taking more than one downstairs with him. I'm ocd on how my blurays are organized in my cabinet. I did let my ex borrow some but for the most part no one borrows my blurays at all. I won't allow it, for I think I won't be getting any back due to damage/lost/forgot.

I have loan them out to my son who has a PS3. My daughter has my old Sony S301 player, but she hasn't asked to borrow any BDs. However, if she ever does, I will of course loan them to her. Other than my family members, I won't loan them out.
