After experiences like that, who could blame you? I'd probably do the same thing if I were you...

I agree. But I would think long and hard about hanging out with someone who would borrow my underwear.

One time I let my dad borrow four of my dvds, and months and months went buy. I went over to retreve them, and he insisted that he bought them and they were his.

Then another time i went to watch The Love Guru and found that it was missing, then I rememberd I let my brother borrow it a couple of months back. He insisted that he returned it. But he didn't. I told him that if he gave it back to me it would be on my dvd rack. So to this day it is still missing.

Now I rarely loan anything out.

I made a list of all of my dvds, blurays and xbox/ps3 games and put them in a spreadsheet. So now when I do lone out a movie or game I mark it as out with the date and there name.

I let my friends borrow my bd. IMO friendship is far bigger than shiny discs.

None of my friends have bought a Blu-ray player yet, however I have lent a couple to my Boss at work to watch when he has asked if he could watch them. He would probably be the only one that I would even consider doing that for.

I have a friend in New Jersey who owns a Blu-ray player, but he is the only one. When my Dad gets a player, I would let him borrow one, but friends...UM...NO.

I lent out my Bad Boys DVD years ago and it took me almost 2 years to get it back. With June 1st rapidly approaching and that Blu about to come out, I might never let anyone SEE it. It is my most anticipated Blu this year...so far.

Once my friends get a Blu player, I'll have no problem lending out my Blus. I've known them forever and they are trustworthy people. I know how to choose friends well.

Screw friendship. My Blu's are everything. Those things cost me good money. Friends will ask to borrow them, so the fewer the better.

Not anymore, my buddy had been cool so far. He's almost OCD with his cleanliness and organization so i don't have to worry about care. But the last ones he borrowed he has now had for like two weeks, and i see him almost daily. At a certain point it gets a little ridiculous lol, if i have to go out of my way to get them back, he is cut off for LIFE.

This same thing happened with me and my brother. He swears that the blus I lent him were his. I even showed him my DVD Profiler list, but he pooh-poohed it But I fixed him though - when his son messed up the setting on his tv, I told him to hire a professional to correct his problem; no more free fix-it help from me

I've been burned in the past loaning things out. I don't like to loan stuff out and have gone as far as buying certain DVDs for my close friends/family if I want them to see it.

I've just learned to NOT talk about my collection as much as I used to. It shouldn't have been a surprise that I keep talking about blu-rays and people ask to borrow them. I've loaned blu's to two friend's at work. I specifically only loaned one at a time and said when you bring this back I'll bring you something else. Though like so many other people in this thread said: not many of my friend's have blu-ray players or care enough about HD.

On a positive note the two people who I've loaned blu-rays to now have started their own collections (one more than the other) which is cool.

That was long winded lol. One final note: now that I've stopped buying DVDs and just buy Blu-Rays I don't mind loaning DVDs out as much as I used to, but it's still something I don't actively advertise.

Thumbs down

I loaned my brand new copy of A Nightmare On Elm Street last week to a friend of the family from the UK who was staying at our place (he watched it on his laptop).

I got the case back minus the ****ing disc inside and he has since returned to England

Never, EVER again.

I just loaned out my first one.

My brother came over and asked to use one of my movies for a couple hours before he leaves for work or somewhere.
