I'm in the process of sorting out what is what, in regards to where these panels are coming from, but there are some peculiar things I'm seeing, such as sub-4K resolution - including 1080P - in many of these products, which explains the lower cost offerings. That's not to say you can't get 4K (or higher) from them, you're just tied to a size/resolution equation that requires you to go bigger/more expensive and with certain sizes.

Robert, just a curious inquiry, what size/ how big would this microLED be compared to the other screens? Will it be in competition, or just a novelty?

From what I have seen at CES and in private meetings Samsung's MicroLED TVs do deliver a moderately better picture than other brands and models of MiniLED TV.

We'll just be showing Samsung's MS1C MicroLED at our July 26, 2025 TV Shootout®, but it will not be competing in the event.

Without more production lines, that won't happen and OLED has far too much of a lead in that and it also has perfected production techniques. Gotta get the production techniques for microLED sorted out first, then you adapt existing production lines of microLED panels and build new lines for those techniques, then you spend a year or so getting the new and existing lines in order with the production techniques and making them give good yields, and then the lines become "profitable", when high-yield and mass-production align. Minimum, a year is typically needed for any line to "get good" and attain high-yield rates.

That's why I have argued that the Bravia 8 MII shouldn't be classified as a "flagship" TV. Sony made a mistake here.

That makes it even worse that an entry level OLED which is much less expensive is as good as SONYs “Flagship TV”
