So is the whole Best Buy possibly dropping HD DVD thing an opinion of yours(and many others), or are you relaying inside info? Just curious, cuz I think it is becoming obvious across NA that Best Buy is pushing HD DVD out the door, and was wondering if you are making the same observations as us consumers, or if there are negotiations happening to really.. well, make it happen.

BTW any suggestions for my 150th Blu Ray... let me guess, Across the Universe?

Hey Penton, sorry about asking the question.

After seeing DV post something about it over at AVS, I assumed he might have had a different source. I guess I was wrong.

Maybe you should post something outrageous like "blu ray has bought advertising rights for the moon". See who runs with it.......

Penton-Man, I know you cant say much about Paramount and Universal right now, but thanks for the hint on friday. Only one would hope that both Paramount and Universal could make there announcement on tomorrow, since it is Martin Luther King day also. Toshiba needs to be Doubled Crossed by both of them, since Toshiba are Double Crossing Consumers. There is probelly be some heavey duety spining by the ones who still think there format still has A chance, there is nothing left to spin...Only an Theme Park Ride in Hell you cant get off of.

For any people that want to strive for “Insider-ship” honors on their own blog or other places, I see that Dave has already picked Q2’08. So that leaves a whole lot of quarters left for you guys to hit an “Insider” home run.

Just take Dave’s original post from AVS then substitute for the word Q2’08 either Q1’08 or Q3’08 or Q4’08, hell you can even choose some quarter in ’09 as the year 2009 is wide open…..but remember Dave’s choice is already reserved and taken. Just use common sense on this, it aint that hard.

B.T.W. – make sure you phrase your post exactly as he did i.e. “I will be surprised” as it guarantees eventual *wiggle room* later on.

Honest to goodness, I think that one of these days I just may throw out a red herring to see how many other “insiders” run with it on other forums…..three days later, with their own spin.

Since paidgeek is MIA for the moment, any chance you can comment on whether Southland Tales might eventually see a Blu-ray release? I note the DVD has been announced, but a BD version isn't being shown off yet.

Given the fact that the movie sat on a shelf for the year, got dismal reviews(34% on the tomatometer), and made no money (worldwide gross-$350,000), I'm going to say that MGM has much more lucrative things to do with their limited Blu pipeline at the moment, and they're not going to put a lot of effort into pushing something that bombed that hard. HD releases are simply too expensive at this point to justify it

Please note, I'm not ragging on it, strictly looking at the likelyhood of ROI probably the same that they did and coming up snake eyes

Can you find anywhere else on the internet where any reputable insider, analyst, reporter, journalist, etc. mentioned this “opinion” regarding BestBuy prior to my post of 1/15/08 ?
