A small request, and this goes for all of the forums..
When pointing to another forum or site, can you please quote the text so we do not have to go to the other site and give them hits ( or in case we are banned from there )
Going through proxies is a pain when not needed.

Penton-

How sad are you that you'll no longer have to go fight the good fight in "the other insiders thread."

This was posted by a mod 10 minutes ago, and the thread was closed.

Greetings

I am saddened to tell you that the Insiders thread is going to remain closed as it has outlived its usefulness

We had a great run with the Insiders Threads: Volume I-IV, but all things must come to an end

Thanks to all the members and Insiders who participated here

Well, what more can I say...

It was a format war thread and the war is over. So its not too surprising.

Ben,
I think it makes a settlement more likely to happen despite the public posturing by the WGA.
Also if AMPTP can make a deal with SAG prior to their contract expiring in June that should decrease the WGA’s leverage even further.

The potential upside for Blu-ray folks is that if this thing drags out for a long time and history repeats itself as with the last prolonged WGA strike, people became turned off with TV and it took awhile to get that TV audience back.

With that in mind, more consumers might be inclined to occupy their home entertainment with high definiton movies which could potentially result in more Blu-ray hardware and software being sold with the advancement of the format becoming mainstream a tiny bit quicker than otherwise without such a precitpating factor (the strike). Every little bit helps.

I think it is not a coincidence that DV "reported" this just 3 days after you let us all know, and I would not be surprised if he copied and pasted your post and just added a date to **** with people. I wasnt trying to disrespect you or anything, I always look forward to reading your posts.
No problem.
I didn’t think you were. It was an honest question.

The "A" man is no longer an insider on AVS. Now he will have to do his spinning in just the regular thread that everyone can ignore. It was worth it just for this!
What is the "A" man going to do now, he now longer works for Microsoft as a Junior VP - reorganized out of his job, he no longer has the elevated status as an AVS insider. Gee maybe he will just fade away.

As I’m sure you’re aware, alot of people get Nielsen's, they just don’t see any benefit of leaking the numbers early in most cases………..really no need, other than for some self-promotion.

I must say though I am gratified to see DV (as a movie reviewer and journalist) embracing the Blu-ray format now rather than never doing so like some of those HD DVD fanatics (as to his motives for turning Blu, I guess everyone has their opinions and should confine those opinions to other threads).

Hmmmmmmmmmmm..........

Insiders thread + no BR insiders + 1 "retired" HD DVD insider + 1 "self proclaimed insider (DV)= No point in having the thread at all.

The only reason it has stayed open this long is to give amir a place to smack off and to give his loyal sheep a place to read his "infinte wisdom".

The Insider’s Thread(s) on AVS are not the root of the problem that caused an undermining of the principles and actions of what once was a great forum.

The forum (at least the HDM threads) degenerated into a quagmire due to one Insider. As long as he continues to roam free on any thread there and make inflammatory posts (which is his nature whether employed, retired, unemployed, etc.), they will continue to have problems as his minions will simply imitate his actions.

I haven’t read the thread since I defended TK and Home Media Magazine anyway.

Re. the PS3 audio question I was asked about a couple of days ago…………….

The SCE Insider has indicated that he will begin monitoring the threads for questions pertinent to his expertise.

Perhaps it would be a good idea for the mods to start at least a temporary thread for him entitled something like………Ask Questions to SCE Insider.
Also, if the thread extends beyond two or three pages in length prior to him posting, it may be prudent to lock it until he does become active as we wouldn’t want to overwhelm the dude….at least during his debut.

Penton-Man

My wife and I watched Oceans 13 on Blu-ray Friday and while I thought the PQ was good, it wasn't great (same with the audio). To contrast a film I liked that had really good PQ was Reign Over Me. How much of this was the cameras or how much was this WB compromising for H DUD?

Thanks!

Thanks Penton, I can't wait until I get a chance to ask him a few questions. I love SCE

Penton,

Bill Hunt just posted some rather interesting tidbits in The Digital Bit's The Rumor Mill section:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/rumormill.html#012108

I was particularly surprised by the comments made with respect to Universal's position, especially the "aren't good enough" comment. Are the time lines set forth for Paramount and Universal accurate? I'd hate to have to wait all the way until the end of the year to see Universal support Blu-ray Disc.

I agree. 6 mo's for Paramount is bad enough.

See my last post in Bill Hunt's thread. I am most definitely not an insider, but I think I have the most likely translation of the timeline information.

I really hope the BDA does help Uni make sure their BD releases, when they finally come, are a great addition to the format rather than a sad pack of ports.

Chris
