I know huh, i posted that in our thread about it. Classic.

Pman, just quick question, i've received an email from Amazon UK saying that Kill Bill 1 + 2 have been moved up to 16th September. Can you confirm?

Thanks

Why must people be so difficult about extremely simple statements?

If you read the very next sentence, I explained that I fully understand that HD DVD did in fact NOT have those things, and that that was important. I was not trying to make a single excuse for HD DVDs demise or imply anything underhanded. I was simply showing reasons HD DVD did fail to counterpoint other, false, reasons that were given.

Not trying to be difficult, but my point is the word "if" can be used to make any kind of hypothetical, arbitrary statement. If Universal had supported Blu-ray from Day 1, HD DVD would have never launched; or, if Microsoft had not supported HD DVD, it would have never launched. One can use the word "if" to make the claim on the other side of the coin too. "If" can be said about anything in the context we're talking about.

Are you guys still debating the format war? Boys, put away your keyboards and go to your rooms. It doesn't matter anymore. It's over!

P.S. Can't you discuss something different like those awful Warner digibooks?

Dunno. I heard Toshiba has a new product that will require a player upgrade that has no studio support that gives almost BD quality. "It's on!"

Speaking of, I just put in Deja Vu in my player.

Yes it's true

I think everyone here needs to remember that Toshiba, who didn't have the best spread of vendors in the US electronics store to BEGIN with (that's why they had RCA put out their player, because they have contracts with everyone), isn't the most loved person out there right now.

I don't expect to see anyone pushing Toshiba stuff for the forseeable future without a gigantic check attached to it, and Toshiba doesn't really have the $$ for writing those these days either, because a certain several studios have munched the CE division's cash reserves pretty well

Wicky’s correct.
The NOTICE OF PUBLIC FORECLOSURE SALE was posted in last Sunday’s L.A. Times.
If you wanted to pick-up a lamp or desk chair on the cheap, you’re a few days late.

Well, I sincerely applaud you for mailing Bill as that is a more worthwhile endeavor in getting meritorious things accomplished but, for the record, he actually wrote his column because of another forum member’s contributions arising on scene prior to your input.

Any further assistance/input would be appreciated.
Just be certain of your evidence because it seems to me that some folks might now think *DNRed* whenever they see a Blu-ray movie which is less detailed or less sharp than what they would expect to be the case and try to add that onto to your *list*.

Why would the retailers be upset with Toshiba? It was also the retailers decision to sell HD-DVD not JUST toshibas.

Retailers are upset because they could've been pushing one format alot earlier, that equals more $$$. I bet they think twice about heavily pushing the next big toshiba technology. Retailers want to keep it simple for their customers. they want their customers to come back again, and again, ect...Just think of all the blu-ray releases that could've been out by now and all the space in retail shops devoted to blu-ray by now if it was one format from the beginning. good luck toshiba finding someone to bet heavily on your next project.

Don't worry. Entire Japan would be united to trash the so-called Blu-ray killer from Toshiba. IMO Toshiba have always been an extremely smart company but these kind of desperate moves questions their credibility.

I'm aware of the 'problem'.

i think the studio support is built-in, as in this will just provide better upscaling of existing DVDs. dunno - haven't come across any technical specs for this.

it'll be interesting to see how they market this. right now we still have sunday-adverts for dvd-players stating "near HD-like resolution". will tosh be able to claim this as an "HD" player? what will they call it? - since using the name "HD-DVD" would be pretty stupid from a marketing standpoint.

My father owns a television & appliance store. The TV's he sells the most are Toshibas'.
During the format war, Tashiba actually required stores to sell HD-DVD players IF they wanted to sell Toshiba TVs. So it wasn't all their decision to sell HD-DVD players.
