Also, I second the person above re: Gladiator. But I'll be happy if we get Braveheart this year (as P-man may have alluded to a while ago) with the "Freeeeeeeeedom" post. I still say he was an "e" short though.

Well at least on Braveheart they've worked on the restoration of reels that needed it on IVC's IMAGICA Wetgate XE 2K/4K scanner.

10,000 BC only 17.3 gigs and that is WITH a TrueHD track on it. Someone has to tell warner to stop this crap. Please.

How are the reviews? If it's VC-1 and ends up getting spectacular reviews, it doesn't really matter.

Nothing will save 10,000 BC. It was a terrible movie.

Can the above be translated for those of us "Finance Geeks" (or "bean counters" or whatever you want to call us )? What does this mean? What needed to be restored on Braveheart as it's only from 1995?

Since the SE DVD was released last year, there were posts by Bill Hunt on The Digital Bits that an HD DVD was coming this year in 2008. Is it logicial to assume that since HD DVD is gone, that we're getting a "restored" Braveheart this year on Blu? That would be AWESOME and make me and Tomlin go.... I know Penton hinted...

I thought this was supposed to be on a dual layer disc? Hmm, possibly compromising a movies quality by cramming it down to fit it onto a single layer disc to save some $$$.....sounds like Warner and several of their more recent releases to me. At least it has a lossless track I suppose.

I was wondering if there is any word on the movie Gladiator going Blu anytime soon? I know its a lame question as I'm sure it'll eventually come, but its a catalog release that I feel has potential to be reference material.
Its supposed to be coming out in Europe this year as Universal announced it in their original Blu-Ray support press release. I believe Paramount will distribute the US version when they get round to releasing it.

I Am Legend was smaller than that and had a TrueHD soundtrack and looked incredible.

Unlike other things in life, it isn't always about the size you guys.

I'm such a Mann fan I'm looking forward to Mohicans, Heat, Miami Vice, Collateral... bring 'em all on in their grainy glory!

I love Gladiator and Braveheart too (who doesn't?!) and have been on a "diet" with these titles- I still have them in my library but refuse to watch them till they come out on blu-ray.

What, besides the low numbers in the bitrate meter of course, bothered you?

Apart from close-ups, the typical Warner soft, filtered, perhaps DNR'd look that we have seen so many times.

Wasn't me! I still haven't seen the trailer yet... though it's in my downloader to download and watch. You did mention one film for me to look at (which is probably why my name came up when you were trying to recall who)... but you directed me to the trailer for "The Fall".

BTW, since it was recently discussed several times on here. I thought I'd post the links for two stories regarding DreamWorks:

DreamWorks-Viacom Breakup Could Get Ugly

DreamWorks' Deal -- A Geffen Ploy?

Fascinating stuff people!

I Am Legend was a VERY poor representation of HD picture. Warner "Smoothie" DNR with low bitrates. Sad.
