Just remember. It's a new divergant timeline/reality. The original reality/timeline still exists.

I realize that, but they did get the Romulan issue wrong. New timeline or not, no one knew that Romulan's and Vulcan's looked alike (yet)--if I'm remembering my Trek history correct.

Jason,
You may be right. I didn't think about it from that angle...although they did state an "unknown alien vessel, which disappeared" after the engagement. But that being said, 25 years did pass of "changed history," so maybe other things changed behind the scenes. Either way, I really liked the movie and our whole family enjoyed it....loved the humor! |

For those films where there may be a fan interest in the artistic stylings being accurate, wouldn't a simple sticker saying, "Director Approved Transfer" or "Filmmaker Approved Transfer" be a workable solution? If I know Bobby Flay created the recipe for my meal, I don't need to ask for the ingredient list. Or, as a marketing bonanza (and I'm sure a $10 markup) why not create a "Director's Intent" line or "Premier" line for catalog titles that undergo retransfers with an effort to recreate the theatrical experience as accurately as possible. |

It was Star Trek V. I would be interested in watching that one for sentimental purposes as described above. Is V any good? |

![]() I distinctly remember it the first time round; we were on vacation in Wales in 1984 (I was 12) and I had to carefully divide my evening TV viewing between V and the Olympics ![]() |

http://www.blu-raystats.com/Stats/Da...reen.php?u=115 In the end, I think that there is always an *element* out there that chooses to believe what they want to believe based on their own online agendas and biases despite what sticker you place on the disc or what the Director says. Remember the Blu-ray disc of Casino Royale? It had some slight grain reduction applied during the encoding phase- which the Director approved of and was actually quite happy with after seeing how grainy the HD master was. Despite this inside knowledge of the Director's wholehearted approval that was posted on forums by myself and paidgeek, how was that information 'received' ? |

Because DGA contracts specificaly state that all transfers are approved by the filmmakers, so unless they aren't a member of the DGA (Rodriguez, Tarantino some of the few), it's a non-issue
Superbit was essentially what you're describing. Didn't work out so well |

![]() ![]() I guess you can see that I am quite similar to David Letterman in regards to this Star Trek stuff........... https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...postcount=8849 |

If the latter, then the sticker would then show that the director/DP actually got involved and approved the transfer. Gary |

Generally, of the six released today, II, IV, and VI are regarded as the best. "II" is "Moby Dick" ("First Contact" coming out later this year is as well, and even mentions "Moby Dick" in the movie), IV has a lot of great humor with a very "GREEN" message. VI is politics in space! I'd recommend either of the three... though II is certainly the most friendly for those unfamiliar with Trek... ~Alan |
