Digital copy discs aren't sold by themselves. I would guess the digital copy discs are pretty cheap. They're even showing up in some DVD packages.

There's no real cost, because it's the same compression they're going to sell on iTunes anyway. So say $0.50-60 after activation charges from Apple. A DVD costs around $5-10k for a basic disc production, nothing too fancy

Is this picture from the Universal Studio backlot? I could have sworn I saw this a few weeks ago on vacation. In fact, I'll have to go through our pictures and see if I have a snapshot too!

Nope.

This image is from another angle which shows the weaponry on top with a cyan colored high-rise having red trim in the immediate background…..such a convex shaped building is definitely not present on the Uni backlot.

Not Penton, but as the format gets more popular we should see more and more and more split releases....still i'm pretty sure that it is the BDA sponsoring this for now, but big deal, as when it gets to 30% marketshare, we should see a lot more split releases imo...

because it costs more money to do the split release instead of at once....its an expense. But this expense is less than the additional revenue by just frontloading DVD. When the cost equals the revenue, which my guess will be at 20-30% , since we are already seeing a few of these now.

It could be argued that the lack of rental windows was a big factor in pushing DVD over the hump like it was. Certainly it's worth a try again

The big problem is that there was an obvious physical difference between tape and a disc. Making sure that stores are trained and signage is in place is very important for implementing something like this to avoid lots of returns and angry customers

In the old days didnt movies come to rental like 6 months after a theatrical presentation and then went to home video 6 months after that?

6-9 months after theatrical debut, then another 4-6 before it would hit sellthrough, gigantic blockbusters (like the top 3-5 a year excepted starting with the 89 Batman

Hi Anthony…..nice lead-up presentation.

The plan is to put a future release out (on Blu-ray)…..I’m thinking the Friday prior to the DVD street date.

The exact timing will be largely based upon input from retailers.

Angels and Demons is 24bit DTS HD MA for English, the dubbed languages are HD MA 16bit.
