They used to have this really cool painted wall that they could project really widescreen films like The Robe on.

Man, they'll just tear down ANYTHING...

Watch the demo, as this lady’s “boobs”, or at least cleavage, is “dnr’ed” with Alien Trespass probably representing thee most “dnr’ed” Blu-ray movie of 2009, for that matter.

She’s certainly not the shy type.
I like the tagline “the World Cup’s girlfriend”.

I think it’s more than a *soccer movie* per se, so for those reading who are completely unfamiliar with the sport or, for that matter, English football back during that time……you guys may still find the Blu-ray enjoyable and certainly something different compared to the run-of-the-mill hackneyed movie themes and plots.

It’s a crime the way his own players under-mined his success.

Tsk tsk, they spelled it "Blue-Ray".

And, yeah. I build websites (when I'm not procrastinating here). Not a programmer, alas. You have a position for a sarcastic cinephile open up, let me know, I'll fly down.

Penton,

I loved Clough's first speech to the players of Leeds United. If it really went down like that, I don't blame the players for being a little pissed-off!

In view of the tone of your last post to me preceding this ^ one, I’m not sure if you’re now somehow countermanding the substance of my response to Scuse Me.. In case you happen to be doing so -

Columbia Tristar/SPE has U.S. rights, not German ones. The distributor known as ‘Eurovideo’ is not part of Sony. I answered in the context of the question posed to me by Scuse Me.

He never had a chance with those leg breakers.

My main problem with his managerial *style* was how he treated his colleague due to his obsessive behavior.

It (the book the film is based on) was a work of fiction. Johnny Giles, the only major character in the book who was still alive when it was published, successfully sued the publisher and forced them to remove sections from subsequent editions.

Totally agree. They did work good together though (as their results show).

No, I'm not ticking that way. In that older post you're refering to I had told you what I didn't like and that topic was done for me with that post, no hard feelings.

The purpose of my "Das Boot" comment was not, to contradict you in any way. I'm aware of that you posted from a Sony USA point of view and I absolutely take your word for it that a "Das Boot" release isn't coming from that direction anytime soon. I was just trying to help ScuseMe out, because I think for him it's not so important from which studio he can get a "Das Boot" Blu-Ray, as long as he can get one.

The wall shares the fate with many cinemas - they also tore down the cinemas with the biggest screens in Berlin, the last and biggest being the Royal Palast - no love for big cinemas.

Wow - talk about throwing away 95% of the grain structure!

It is also quite interesting to see just how much grain is visible and with how high a resolution (3k) this is scanned. I wonder if this is really the native resolution of the scanner for this format or the technique that works with an offset to create a higher resolved scan.

Yeah, well, when my favourite-ist cinema ever was being demolished (home to TIFF/Midnight Madness screenings for years, where I saw dozens of premieres, from Crouching Tiger to Ichi The Killer), it actually went and killed somebody:

http://www.cnn.com/2003/WORLD/americ...pse/index.html

Ah, the mighty Uptown. I was the last person to leave the last screening, and still even have the armrest from the seat (front row, feet up on the stage) that I called my own. I've got all this footage of people, from Atom Egoyan to Adam Sandler, talking about their love for the place, that one day, when I'm not this lazy idiot procrastinating all day on the internet, I'll do something with.
